Fam got hit by what we assume was the Norwalk virus a few weeks ago(stomach bug), shit sucked, nothing like cleaning up after 2 kids vomiting and one of them showered me with it, from the neck down was just covered. Thankfully only lasted 2 days

Got some take home heartrate monitor doohickey I gotta wear for 2 weeks straight. Stupid metal parts already feel tingly and they banned me from taking a shower for 24 hours. Fam I ride my bike everywhere I get sweaty. I don't want to be that smelly guy who doesn't shower after getting sweaty. Also banned from getting really any significant moisture on the part of my chest where it is for the whole 2 weeks. So they basically told me to wrap my chest in plastic wrap for showers and no baths lol

didn't help that the last call of the day was a fucking idiot. Dude would say something, I'd ask a question to figure out what the hell he wanted me to do about the thing he just said, and he'd answer with the exact same fucking statement word for word. So I'd ask another question, phrased a different way. He'd give me the same answer. Word. For. Word. Also, he asked me the same question literally 10 times in a row. I kept track. What, you think you ask it enough times the answer is gonna change?

also, I'm still stoked about my job. paychecks are nice. also, for the most part, people are nice/understanding. I had one call today. dude had been transferred around like 3 times, been on the phone for an hour and a half before someone in internet handed him off to me. first person he spoke to was rude as fuck, too, so he was pretty pissed off. I spent half an hour on the phone with him and by the time we hung up he was calm, appreciative of my efforts, and generally willing to give us (as a company) another chance.

it's just... man, it's still fuckin work. leaves me worn out. plus I need to poop around 7:30-8:00 every night and my shift ends at 6:30, so more than a handful of minutes of overtime starts cutting close to my poop time.

y'all act like a man can't like his job while still bitching about it. FYI: I had no job for 8 years and I still found plenty of shit to bitch about. I can bitch about anything. it's one of my great talents.

I remember when I did tech support for EA. The joy of working in the game industry was shattered the first time you got a call at 4:59 pm to walk someone through writing a dos boot disk for a Janes flight sim.

We actually said this about one of our own coworkers this year. The sweetest girl you'll ever meet but even now she's all " what is wrong with these people ", LOL. It only took her a year..

I've been working customer service over 21 years now and the single saving grace I have now is none of it is face to face. Seriously never take that shit for granted but I'm also lucky to be in an office environment where it's not the typical call center micromanagement bullshit.

There are people that really make it all worth it but majority of people I deal with are entitled idiots that never learned anything about the 30k+ car they drive and think we can magically diagnose any sound or issue over the phone.

Honestly it all comes down to how you deal with people. Not everyone is cut out for customer service oriented jobs , I actually love it as masochistic as it can be but I know I'm damn good at it but tell me to cold sell something and I'm struggling to find my footing. Though being surrounded by my internet sales consultants has helped me adapt and understand different ways to approaching different types of people and obstacles.
