AMEX is the best. I'm ok with some overbearing fraud detection from them. They pop me at least once a month but it makes me feel better about having an account with them.

Yeah I agree just caught me off guard but Capital One has been similar and I'm thankful they are looking out at least.

I hear this so often and I always try to stress to people looking to adopt a puppy - make sure you know the breed needs and in general how time consuming it is. I know I don't have kids but training a puppy is much like having a toddler and the work you put in will make a huge difference later. It's time consuming and sadly older puppies (9 months to 2 years) often are returns to a shelter because they were too much work/time consuming.

I'm not a fan of it but crate training can be a useful tool if done properly and not abused.
    And yes we need pics.

I believe crate training is essential. There could be times when you'll need to crate the dog, and if they are not trained properly they will see it either as a punishment or they will not go into the crate.

My dog did not want to go into the crate when we first got her. We would leave treats in until she ate them, then we'd put them further back into the crate. Eventually she would go in for treats, though seemingly reluctantly. After a few weeks she would go in without issue. Now when my wife and I are putting our coats on she stands at the top of the stairs wagging her tail and runs downstairs and into her crate when go towards the stairs.

If you do use the crate when you're out, make sure to play with them after they do their business. Both because they need the exercise, but also as a reward for being in the crate. When I get home I play with the dog for 15-20 minutes; depending on when she either wants to go out again or goes to get water. If I start playing with her again after she has water she throws up. Every. Time.

EDIT: All of my dogs growing up have been crate trained and stay in the crate when we were out of the house.

Gonna try that, he hates the crate. I only do it 10-20 minutes at a time, every two hours or so.

Thought I was over that stomach bug, was getting ready for work and almost shit my pants. Which is amazing because I didn't think there was anything left at this point.

This popped up on my fb feed because one of my friends liked it, and I'm pretty sure I just gave myself a concussion hitting my head on my desk so hard.

Its rude to contact someone at 2am (this part is true) without asking permission beforehand to do so (lol?).

    The replies are even better.

It gets progressively easier. First nights and week were hellish.

Be super diligent on potty training and do everything you can to build positive association with the crate. Put his food bowl in there, treats in there, etc.

Our pup would go in happily but never liked staying in, eventually we said fuck it and after some whining he deals with it. It's huge for our sanity that we can leave him home alone for hours now or put him up when cooking/eating

If you have any questions lmk

Yeah we take him out literally every hour on the hour and 20 minutes after he eats. I put his favorite toy in his crate (he loves assaulting my girlfriends minion doll) and a duck foot treat that the vet recommended. He's good when you tire him out, and surprisingly we've almost mastered nights. We let him sleep with us (gf wouldn't take no for an answer) and we wake him up once in the middle of the night to go potty; we've yet to have any accidents on bed and he's pretty good about it.

Not shitting you with this, it works: grab a post-it or something similar, twist one end into a point. put the point into one nostril and LIGHTLY brush the nosehairs in the back of your nose. I mean way back. The back wall of your nose works too. I have problems with sinus drainage and since I started doing this I can sneeze at will. It's a lifesaver.
