So, my girlfriend is on her period.

Shouldn't be much of a fail, but apparently she thinks it's normal for her to end up bleeding all over whatever skirt/pants she's wearing for a couple days because her flow is insane and blows through heavy flow pads like tissue paper. I thought the pair of denim shorts she turned red a couple months ago was a fluke, but she's already destroyed the skirt she wore today and her overnight flow ate through her heavy flow overnight pad, her panties, her pajamas, three towels, and made it through to her sheets.

How has she not died from blood loss? Are there not products out there for women with blood hoses in their pants? Should I be taking her to see a doctor? I cannot imagine that this has not negatively impacted her quality of life.

If it means anything, she only has her period once every 2-3 months despite not being on any forms of hormonal birth control (she has a consult for an IUD in a couple weeks that would be her first) and while she does have thrombocytopenia it's not like she's a hemophilliac.

I have a lot of blood on my period, and it got worse since the IUD. I am always so embarrassed by period stains, especially when sleeping as you shouldn't wear tampons overnight. My only personal request is to try not to make it seem a big deal. Accidents are bound to happen.

I want one of these so badly, but I have to go long ass hours before being able to use the bathroom at my job, so I am worried it would overflow before I can change it.

This happened to me. I solved it by waiting til the cooler rooms in question were empty, then I adjusted the vent so as to to slightly block airflow. Repeat this for every room in the office. Once you're done, you'll notice the difference in your own office, and they won't be none the wiser muahahah.
