I have similar problem. They installed new ones a year or 2 back. Pretty much any kind of cooking that results in enough steam or smoke to get to it (and it's all of like 10 feet away from stove) will make it go off. Actually ends up being one of the side benefits of sous vide. None of my proteins stay long on a heated surface to really generate much. Before that I'd just have to unplug both my detectors since the other one is literally on the other side of the door frame from the first one. Genius position there guys
