My mum's weapon of choice was, from casual to extreme:
One of them dusters
Flip flops/Fly Swatter
A meter ruler
The worst was she would do it when I'm most vunerable. I remember she came into the bathroom while I was showering and kicked my ass with the duster there and then lol
Thinking back, I guess it's because we were young but I dunno why it was so scary. It didn't really hurt that much. Maybe because she was angry and shouting did it bring fear into us.
My mum still slaps me for fun or when I do something charming/rude nowadays, but I laugh it off and slap her back too (playfully). In fact we're somewhat banned sitting together in anything "events" with family because our banter is so bad/hilarious. However other parents love the fact I get on so well with my mum, like when I had to go with her a shopping centre once (we had to take something back and I had to do most of the translations), she dropped in to have her hair done at her usual places (ran by Chinese) and while I was bored/waiting we started taking the piss out of each other and our conversation went on various tangents, the people who worked there was surprised that I'm her son haha.
Huh. My four siblings and I were never spanked. The worst we got, I believe was having to sit in a chair. They usually just played the 'disappointed' card on us, that seemed to work quite well.
My grandma used to throw her hard-bottom slippers. She was a fucking sniper in a past life, I swear. She'd hit the back of your head while you're running through the next room from the kitchen. Never interrupted her concentration on whatever she was cooking either.
Hard to grnerate facts on something as variable as human emotion and reaction. If it were so simile an generic, no one would have mental disorders n shit.
So this just was just said on facebook, in retaliation to me mocking the riots in boston:
Yeah, wow, Murikanz b dum.remember that time the bruins won the Stanley cup and Canada rioted in their city after
I wish my parents hit me. It's such an easy way out.
You were never disciplined as a kid? That answers a lot...
This is actually true - I remember taking a bath with my biological father around that age and, perceived by a child, it was enormous, diameter of a grown man's fist and everything. Stuck with me until I came to realize that mine would not reach that kind of size, though I can still see it clearly.
Oh for fuck's sake ...
I mean I have some semblance of a belief set in a higher being and/or spirits but not to the direct contrary of strong scientific theory and inviting willful ignorance.
And I fall under the conservative/right side of politics but not even close to this extreme. The fact that I know someone who actually believes this shit is terrifying, honestly.
It's the little things like that that make me happy to be Catholic.
I grew up Catholic but I don't come even close to following it at this point. You probably couldn't even consider me Christian.
I kind of miss the 3 fathers who ran the catholic church I used to do receptionist work at in high school. On top of them letting me listen to pretty much whatever i wanted to, they were incredibly respectful of my beliefs, never tried to convert me, and I was actually able to have several conversations with them over a bunch of topics.
Now some of the parishioners, especially the seniors, they could fucking die in a fire with their bullshit. I had one who kept trying to get me fired cause i wasn't catholic and therefore was desecrating the church every time I got it opened up and ready for Saturday morning mass.
Wife was going to surprise me with a PS4 for my birthday/Christmas/Anniversary present. Was a very spectacular deal with a PS4, Extra Controller, FFXV, Battlefield 4, Madden, 1 year subscription free to PS+. Came to me yesterday and said she pre-ordered it to her brothers old address but he recently moved so she forgot to change the address. Tried to change it and they told her that she had to cancel the order and reorder. Preorders sold out Day 1 so it's not an option. Fuck.
