Who has got my heady balloons?
Let me guess, you had the top 2 pulled?
Spoiler: show
omfg the bottom ones felt like he was snapping off a chunk of my jaw. he's fucking hauling away on it, feels like he's got a huge wrench and is just jumping up and down on it, then "Snap!" and i groan cos it fucking hurt like mad, then out of the corner of my eye i see him holding the tooth, all bloody and shit, and at that point i thought to myself "well jesus fucking christ thats a part of my jaw right there" so i did this little half-laugh because THATS MY FUCKING JAW RIGHT THERE JESUS FUCKING CHRIST
that was the thought process anyhow. i know it wasnt actually part of my jaw. just felt like it. it really was a strange experience; a mix of pain but not. my flesh was completely deadened but my bones still felt just fine so it was just a bizarre mix.
why am i reading this
i have terrible fear of dentist and or surgery
need bottom two pulled... removed... they are sideways, been that way a long time.
fuck.
gonna need medicine just to get there
I was so high on the meds they prescribed to me before my wisdom teeth removal, I lost my sense of time. I honestly thought he finished pulling all 4 of mine out in 5 minutes, the bottom 2 having grown in sideways so he couldn't just yank those out. As soon as the meds wore off though... worstpaininmylife.jpg.
A bit graphic, the 3rd tooth being worked on:

Your mouth will feel so much better though when you're all healed up.
My wisdom teeth came out easily. All four were impacted (horizontal pushing on the rest of my teeth) and had to be cut out. Went in, they put me under, woke up as they were finishing and walked myself out of the room and sat on the bed they had. Minute or two later I found a hygienist and asked if I could leave. They gave me Vicodin, but I only used 1 or 2 pills the first day. Went to my cousin's beach house for Memorial day two days after and drank all weekend.
My dentist/oral surgeon was definitely one of the better ones.
just have them knock you the fuck out with drugs and it really isn't that bad
source: had all of mine taken out back in HS
People getting wisdom teeth removed without general anesthesia blows my mind.
Being put under just makes everything so much better for everyone, the surgeon doesn't have to deal with your comfort/pain/groaning/moving/etc and you're just.....completely unconscious, no pain, no discomfort, no element of awareness to be had.
My wisdom teeth went much like Toki's, went in, put under, woke up, some discomfort and some pain meds (not vicodin sadly ._.) but no real pain. Surgery was done on a Friday I was back in school on Monday. Few weeks later I went back and they removed the stitches.
I don't remember how badly my teeth were placed (they had never caused me any pain but they were such that it was only a matter of time before they became an issue) but I found out after the fact that he had to break at least 2 of them and remove them in pieces. I can't imagine going through that while conscious, at all.
The only thing that didn't go as planned was me sleepwalking around the office after the surgery while coming off of the anesthesia, which apparently gave my dad a good laugh.
Random fail from 10 year old me:
Background: My teeth have always been fucked. I had a palette expander in 3rd grade, surgery and a new expander in 4th and braces from 5th through 10th. I had a tooth growing in the middle of the roof of my mouth, my upper canines were coming in high on my gums outside the rest of my teeth, and I had an underbite.
Went in for oral surgery when I was 10. Nobody told me exactly what was going to happen, understandably, so I just go about my morning and am driven to the surgeon. I get in the chair and they tell me they're going to put me to sleep. Doesn't occur to me that I won't be "sleeping" as much as I'll be passed the fuck out with no control over my body. I never used the bathroom that morning for whatever reason and proceed to pee myself.
You may now all laugh at my misfortune. After all the years of dentists/orthodontists/surgery that is the only somewhat bad story I have.
What vendor are you using? Our CAD program for the most part has been reliable. Just periodically have to remote into the server to stop/start the service cause something hangs it. Or my favorite someone exiting out of the program without logging off first so they have to call dispatch to get their car and ID signed off so they can sign back on again.
Starting a new contract job on Tuesday, have to be in at 7:00 AM. Discover that the earliest bus to get me there will put me on site by 7:07 AM and not a moment earlier. Public transit budget cuts are the worst thing in the world.
May have to cab :<
also because its more expensive, and you can't drive home if you've been under general anesthetics. nitrous you can, which was the deciding factor for me. moving around and shit? nah son, i don't squirm. i've been a patient for too long. and while it hurt, it wasn't a normal hurt. the nitrous lets you detach from it pretty heavily, so while you can still feel the pain, you just kinda ignore it. "Oh, that really fucking hurt, I should inhale more nitrous" deal, instead of just screaming profanities like you would normally. 'course, it helps that i've got a really high tolerance for pain. ridiculously high. my doctors once called CPS (or whatever child therapist is the step before that) on my parents because they didnt believe me when i said shit didnt hurt, and almost did it again when i was diagnosed.
anyway, i figured something out because of this whole thing: I can't take opioid painkillers! Turns out the brutal recovery from my abdominal surgery was caused not by the surgery itself, but by the painkillers they gave me. I learned this NOW because they gave me vicodin for my teeth, and my guts immediately went into the same "fuck you we're not doing shit" mode, causing more pain than i felt while actively sitting in the chair having my teeth snapped off. What happens is my guts stop moving anything through, but continue to digest what i've already eaten, so they fill up with gas and get all sore and it gets too painful to breathe/move/eat/poop/sleep/read (seriously it gets so bad i can't focus on anything so i end up just looking at cats and whatnot). it's the most hellish experience i've had to date. luckily i caught on quick this time and only had to deal with a week of it. mostly back to normal now.
