My new video card arrived...and because somehow my apartment number didn't get transferred to the shipping info they couldn't deliver it till I called the local UPS distribution center. It wont go back out till Friday. And I was looking forward to doing coil at 60FPS, but we already ran!

I absolutely love the look and smell of a Christmas tree, and get excited about putting one up.

But between the baby and two cats I have to put up have the decorations every night as they take them all down throughout the day.

(many of which "magically" appear in Mackenzie's toy box)

Not to mention the cats seem to refuse to share sleeping on the tree skirt (which is huge), and are constantly pushing each other out.

So lucky ;; We wanted to do that burbank thing but husband got stuck on insane work hours. And we found out last week our friend who works for Disney (we could get into Disneyland for free), is moving to a different company in Canada.

though we probably spend way too much time there. Especially with the wife now having weekends off we can leave Friday night, spend all day Saturday and part of Sunday before driving home and back to work on Monday.

There is an abandoned building near our house that used to be a National Guard storage facility. It is being prepped for demo so the electric has been cut. The water is still active however and it is about 15 degrees here and forecast to fall into the single digits by tomorrow night. So, the oh-so-brilliant idea they came up with to protect the building from freezing pipes was to bring in 2 industrial mobile generators and run them All. Night. Long. These fucking things sound like a jet engine in my back yard and I am supposed to sleep tonight? I am tempted to turn the fucking things off and take the keys.

...One would think it would be cheaper to just cut off water to the place and let them break if they're going to demo it anyway...

the only thing that saves us from the bureaucracy is its inefficiency.

also, poor myrrh. you picked the worst day of the week to get home; it's been chilly (actually slightly warm for this time of year) but today has been by far the coldest. I don't remember where along the brim of the hat you are but if you're in the middle you're probably getting the same crap we are.

Lack of planning. They knew 2 weeks ago that this was going to be a problem and they still did not get the water disconnected. The heavy equipment is sitting in the parking lot waiting to dig down to the main and cap it but as Bane says, it's a government contract so bureaucracy and inefficiency. Someone called the cops complaining about the noise and got the generators shut off some time in the night. They are back on now that it is after 8:00am.

Where are you? I am in Portland, OR and it is 22F right now. Low tonight in the single digits. It is unseasonably cold here, but nothing we haven't seen in previous years later in the winter.

Being a Chicago area native, I laughed during the year I spent in florida when people complained it was freezing (somewhere in the 70's). My only concession to the cold was to either wear pants instead of shorts, or wear a flannel shirt, but never both.

My first world problem. We got new hardware for our shower, which has one lever for water temperature instead of two. So now my indoor running water is almost impossible to find a good temperature between freezing and scalding, the margin of adjustment being so small.
