I wore contact lens from about 12 years old to 32 years old. In the olden days, you were unable to tell if your lenses were inside or out, so I spent 6 years in moderate pain because I was wearing them wrong. You'd put them in and then they hurt. You'd take them out and turn them the other way around and they still hurt. When I turned 18 and had the money to buy my own, I switched to Specsavers and didn't have a problem until 2 years ago when I developed a dry eye. I gave my eyes a rest for 18 months but when I tried to wear them again last November, it turns out I can't wear them as both eyes are dry now and 1 is damaged. They said I might sleep with one eye slightly open but I've no way to prove that.
I also have astigmatism in both eyes and my contact lens worked for that. My glasses aren't as good, I have to be looking dead centre through the glasses to have a clear field of vision.
On the plus side, my eyes are so bad, Specsavers said I was practically blind so the glasses were nearly free on the NHS.
I feel weird getting glasses because I feel like I can see fine and for the most part I can. Stuff isn't blurry in the way that I think of blurry like an out of focus camera but everything does have ghosting around it. The main motivation for getting glasses is to reduce eye strain/fatigue and hopefully get rid of the eye headaches I get which happen at least once a week. After talking to my wife about it last night I do feel a lot better about the whole situation.
Whatever four eyes.
I can't even imagine not having my glasses anymore lol. Been wearing them since 6th grade and I actually feel naked without them on. Tried contacts before when I was younger and passed out while trying to put them in. Luckily, the wall broke my fall or my head probably would have hit the tile. >.> So, never going to try those again. Contacts just seem like such a pain to me with how easy glasses are to put on and take off when sleeping, showering, etc.
But yeah, I have to have really thick lenses, but that special thing they do to make them thinner makes them not too bad. Finding nice frames is really the most difficult part, but I've been really happy with my current ones for 5+ years so far.
Holy crap I forgot about that shit.
My contacts sucked back in the day because I have weird shaped eyes so they always had to get specially ordered. I could only get the yearly (which would usually rip after like 4 months anyway). And they were thin as shit you had to treat them so carefully. ><;
when they came out with the three months kind for my size I jumped for joy lol
Not really my fail but a friend's situation that makes me also feel super paranoid:
Back story:
Spoiler: show
tl:dr friend from college marries another friend's sister who is psycho and they have a kid.
So shit finally hit the fan between the two of them and they got divorced. Because of Megan's mental instabilities, Steve recently got sole custody of their kid. Sorta good, but apparently he's been neglecting their kid a lot out of spite for his now ex wife. Basically, they've both been rather shitty to the kid (not physical but neglectful and constantly fighting infront of him, etc.), but because Megan has mental problems and Steve has a good job he won. And now he won't let Megan and Sally's mother see the kid either which has made the mother go into a wretched state.
While I haven't had like any contact with Steve in forever, I still am close with Sally. Sally is stressed now because she has a son too, and her mom wants to watch him tomorrow. On the one hand this is a good thing imo 'cause the mother feels like she's lost her grandson, so it's good for her to remember she has another. But, Megan is living with their parents atm. Apparently Megan is supposed to pick up Sally's kid and take him to the mall before going home.
With all the fiasco, Sally is worried Megan might do something drastic, and I am worried too. It was basically just this week that Steve got full custody meaning Megan isn't going to see her kid anymore without his approval (aka never). I really wouldn't like to think Megan would just take off with Sally's kid, but she might idk. Trying to convince Sally to have her mom or dad go with her just in case.
My own "fail" in all this: I wish back in the day I had punched Steve in the face. I really do. I don't think it would have done a dick of difference, but at least I would be able to look back on it and know that I at least tried to do something.
punch him in the face now. fatherhood (or motherhood) is not a weapon.
More Bell's Palsy shit...
Apparently my entire transplant team of doctors thought I was lying about Bell's Palsy all week. It took me actually going into the hospital yesterday and showing them for them to actually start doing some more tests to see what is causing this. Though now they are acting all urgent since tomorrow is the last day before the weekend.
Good side though, I thought this was affecting my left lung making me unable to breath out of it but it turns out my Lung functions are the highest they've ever been so that is a massive weight off my shoulders.
Wrote down everything that I feel is wrong with me, this is the list lol
Barely able to blink/close my left eye
Can't lift my left eyebrow
Can't move the left side of my mouth
Can't move my left pectoral muscle
Sluggishness in my left arm
Forgetting things more than I normally do
Slurring lots of words and sentences
Insomnia
Unable to produce saliva on the left side of my mouth causing strange cotton mouth
Sensitive to sound in my left ear
Unable to move the left side of my tongue
Issues eating and drinking due to the left side of my esophagus unable to work properly
And increased stress due to this all.
At least the weathers warmed up.
Still, that's pretty shitty. Where do you go anyways, the HSC?
Yeah, I deal with all the doctors at Respiratory Outpatient clinic for anything transplant related, and Pain Clinic for my back.
Figures. Rest of the cities hospitals are pretty shitty.
They probably want to rule out shingles quickly.
Tempting but it would have to wait until I am in CT again. And ya I agree. I'd have more sympathy for this whole thing if both of them were thinking of the kid and not themselves. They absolutely hate each other and I know this is all about that.
For awhile there she was the one that had to pay child support and she doesn't even have a job. And again he's a pharmacist, he doesn't need the money. He did it to punish her.
I have no expectations the kid is going to turn out ok. He's going to be an emotion wreck imo by the time he reaches being a teenager.
How exactly is the kid being neglected? Fighting infront of your kid isn't neglecting them. If you're answer is that he's neglecting the kid by not allowing his own mother to spend time with them, well, I can't really fault him for that with what you've told us. If Sally and yourself are "scared" of Megan watching over Sallys kid, think of how he would be knowing the hatred she has for him. I assume Megan doesn't hate Sally, and you both are still scared, reading what you said I have no doubts she hates Steve, so imagine his fear.
2 sides to every story, and if you were good friends with him, there's no harm in calling him up to hear his side.
About as wrong as possible.
Lets put it to the test.
Spoiler: show
I said neglecting AND fighting infront of him, not "by". Neglecting as as far as the kid has said he sleeps on the floor (I actually believe this but probably with a mattress, as Steve used to do that in college for some weird reason). Doesn't play with the kid or pay attention to him. More often than not, Steve just drops the kid off at his parents so he doesn't have to deal with him. Basically not being a parent.
He is still fed normally which is why I said mentally not physically. From what it sounds like, the kid seems to have no real like emotional attachment to either parent. Which really does suggest that they've (the parents) have been thinking about themselves this whole time rather than the kid.
I am not saying it's all Steve's fault btw, it's both of theirs. And naw, calling him isn't going to do anything. The thing that should have happened was them never getting married in the first place. If I felt this relationship could be saved I would call, but I haven't been friends with him for about 9 years now, and haven't even seen him in 7. Only reason I state I wanted punch him in the face and not her is because I was friends with him and never said anything. I was never friends with her and she is the reason I stopped being friends with him as she made it very clear she didn't want me to hang around him back in the day.
Honestly, it is good that the kid get into a stable household rather going back n' forth with the way the two are acting. My frustration is just that it came to this in the first place. And now it is affecting Sally too.
Sally's mom received a letter today stating she had to stay away from the grandson, so now she wants to move to another state. Sally has no other family in the area, nor does her husband (his has like one brother who lives in the midwest).
jesus christ myrrh if my doctors pulled the kind of shit you deal with i'd yell at them and sic my dad on them. he taught many of their bosses. then, if going over their heads didn't work, i'd go elsewhere. that shit is not acceptable. they're not House, they don't get to just assume you're lying. you seriously need a better team.
edit: also, bed frames are expensive. I'M SURPRISED YOU DON'T KNOW THIS 'SANDY YOU MUST HAVE BROKEN SOME IN YOUR TIME HUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUE
