Well, I went to San Diego where it's better weather than FL but still no snow, so it's a vast improvement! @Ksan But yes, prices are higher.

The only relatively decent town wherein you could buy a cheap house in Florida is Sebring. I don't think there's anywhere else you'll get the best of both worlds (as in, living in a relatively nice place while also paying little for your housing). Crime rate reporting for the area is skewed because it has a very low population, but that's because it's in the middle of nowhere. It's an hour and a half south of Orlando.

It's still Florida, so it's still going to be ill-kept, hot, and backward, but it's better than most of Florida.

Yeah 40k for a house means you're getting either a fixer upper or you're living in the ghetto. You can find something modest but nice in the range of $100k-$150k around here. It takes about an hour and a half to get to Disney and Universal from here. There's plenty of ghetto/redneck here but there's plenty of nice areas, too. I don't know why people hate on Florida so much. I've been happier here than I ever was anywhere else, which includes several parts of the country thanks to Uncle Sam.

Went out to my car parked on the side of my street an hour ago to go to my bank before they closed and I find that both my left tires are completely flat.
I've had no problems with these tires at all before now and while I don't see why anyone would vandalize my tires I know there's always the 'random person/random act of destruction element' possible and I also thought it could have been the snow plows that got too close to my car, but I can't see any exterior damage at all to the outside- not to say I could be missing a little hole or something.
It was also probably near -20 last night and I know cold weather can decrease air pressure, but to make it completely flat? And only the left side?

I only have 1 spare, too :/ gonna see if a neighbor can take me to the gas station so I can fill the tires up and see if they'll just deflate immediately again. Grr. I'm supposed to leave for work in 10 min and then was supposed to drive some 100 miles to visit the girlfriend tonight.

I actually stayed in sebring for a couple of days a few years ago. It was nice, but....crocodile lake is a crocodile lake. Creepy seeing those things out on the water.

A lot of houses here with the same square footage no matter how ghetto the area would still cost like 400k+.

Last time we were there, we spent some time looking around for shits n' giggles since my hubby still does try to apply to jobs there (but fucking entertainment industry is all gone elsewhere). Lot of nice houses for fucking cheap as shit.

I did. It worked. Until the air pump stopped and I heard air hissing out of both tires. Tiny puncture hole in both of them on the sides meaning someone did it.

If they went flat that quickly they were side walled. Sadly that means you need to buy two new tires, that can't be fixed.

I have the hubcaps, they're just staying in my trunk until it's not -8 with 20mph winds.
That could have gone towards a ps4. Boo. Gonna call my insurance company Monday and see if something can be done about that since I have full coverage. Though I now only have a receipt of purchase and a picture of the two flat tires.

May want to report it to the cops just in case there's been a rash of such in your area. Had a few kids here who basically went down two blocks in two separate cities. How they wound up catching them, I dunno, but I suspect it getting on the news helped.

Even with full coverage, chances are you have a deductible and your rates would most likely go up. Probably best to just eat the cost.
