stupid uninformative invoice.

I thought I wouldn't have to pay anything for awhile (3 years) with new purchase deal+stuff, but I also thought I would be able to see a breakdown or what they will charge, just discounted 100% or whatever.
Some goofy kid - srs this salesman looked like 16 - just told me to expect 300-500 the first full servicing after that 3yr period. wtf, it's just engine oil, filter, yep your brake lights work, ok done.

Always ask for an itemized invoice prior to any work being performed. That is actually what the service writers job is (the 16y/o kid you are referencing), to show you the work that needs to be done and review the costs with the customer prior to the work being done.

Also, if you have the original Owners Manual for the car, check the maintenance schedule. That is what they follow when you bring your car in for service. Anything on the invoice that deviates from that maintenance schedule..... question it.

300-500 for an oil change, air filter, and safety inspection is ridiculous. However, $300-500 for Oil Change, Air Filter, Trans Fluid Change, Rear Diff Oil, Brake fluid Change/Flush is about par for the course. My car for instance calls for oil change every 4K, Trans Fluid every 40K, Rear Diff Oil every 40K, brake fluid is not on my schedule but I change that when the fluid looks disgusting (easy enough to pop the hood and just look at it)

Edit: All of the above, aside from the brake fluid, can be done in an hour with a lift..... 2 hours max if you are working with a jack and/or ramps only. This is assuming the person doing the work has ZERO mechnical knowledge. (other than knowing what fluid to put where and where to drain it from, which a 45 second google search would show.)

We are getting The Wind Rises at work this week. Unfortunately, it is the dubbed version (fail for me). Even worse, it is in mono sound, so all weekend I'm expecting complaints from people about our speakers not working. Either it was intended like this, or Disney just did a shitty job with the dubbing.

More random win, since no thread just for those:

Someone on my city's subreddit posted in the classifieds that he had two green passes on Southwest for sale that had to be used by 2/28/14. I contacted him and said if he got close to the date and couldn't sell that if he'd be willing to give one to a broke college student to travel home then to let me know.

Cuts close to the wire and he messages me back saying I can have one. (This was 2/26/14) I pick it up from him and contacted SW for an extension. Mailed it to them with a $100 and should have an extended round trip green pass to anywhere in the US. (Hopefully!)

After two years of moving away, I'm finally getting a trip home hopefully in April for my birthday! :D

After a 30 minute commute on the subway, get to my car and prepare to leave the parking garage and notice I cannot find my SmartTrip card (used to pay for both the parking and subway system in Washington DC) that I literally had just used less than 5 minutes prior. I check my wallet, all my pockets and retrace my steps. I even ask the station manager if anyone turned it in. No one had so I had to get a new card, loaded it with $50 and then emailed my supervisor at work to have my old card taken out of the system and add my new card on it. I then cancelled my old card, thankfully being able to transfer my balance to the new one.

I just get home and I am getting out of my car and find my original card on the floor under my seat.

Didn't happen today, happened about a week and a half ago, but w/e.

Heading out East to visit with the gf's family for a week, I know it's a shitty time to drive and all due to weather, but she had a hard time getting time off work, so we went when she could get it.

15 hour(From Tornoto to Miramichi, NB) drive through some crazy blizzard like conditions at some points, but we arrive at destination town at 4am, so decide to bunk up a few hours before continuing to her parents house. Leave hotel at like 9am, head for parents house.

On the last main road to her parents house, it's like a shitty little highway, we come across a section in which it's open field and the wind is blowing these snow drifts onto the road from the ocean.We run through 2 snow drifts in the middle of the road, and we're approaching a thrid one which looks a bit bigger, but there is absolutely no way around this thing lol, so I try and run through it, doesn't go as planned at all, we got stuck in it. I step out of the van and the wheels are sitting a good 1.5 feet off the actual road lol.

Kicker is that we had just passed the government garage in which the plows are dispatched from, low and behold not even 2 minutes later a plow arrives behind us..... Guy is nice enough to help me dig out the vans rear end so he could pull us out. He hooks the tow rope to the rear axle(I wasn't paying attention to what he was doing) and pulls us out, we proceed to parent house which is only 2 MIN away......

Next day I take a good look at the van since it's nicer weather out, front bumper is cracked, grill popped out, didn't seem like much, but I took it for a test drive just to be sure anyways. Van drove like fucking SHIT, I had never in my life driven something so bad, I was suprised I didn't notice the previous day, but I guess it was only a 2minute drive in which I was following the plow anyways. Take the van to the dealership(it's a 2013), they have a look, aside from the cracked bumper and the alignment being off, I cracked my 2 front control arms, and the plow bent the rear axle on me pulling us out. A nice $2500 after all is said and done(though went through insurance, cause fuck paying that).

What a vacation!!!

So, I think that casting thing might be a scam. It's from a company called Nonscripted TV. They want me to buy a lifetime membership at a one time payment of 300 bucks. The reviews I've found are like 60% against, and 40% for. I haven't given em money yet because it sounds fake as all hell.

I want this to be real so badly because I need something good to happen to me but I'm very worried about getting ripped off.
