Dishes are probably my favorite chore. Only need to move my hands while I watch/listen to something. Cleaning the floors...now that shit is annoying.

We cook a lot so washing dishes is a bit of a chore, we finally moved to a place with a dishwasher -- now half the time the glasses come out with assorted crumbs all over them -- very gross. We need to clean out the stupid pipe that sprays the top rack again.

I don't mind drying/putting away dishes, but I hate washing -- fortunately my husband is the opposite. One caveat is he hates washing stemware so it slowly piles up until I have the guts to scrub the sinks down and wash them myself :/

Nope nope nope. Fuck washing dishes man. Dishwasher for the win, when my newer one started to leak I had it torn out from behind the counter and the replacement part ordered an hour later. I went to culinary school and had to wash an ungodly amount of dishes for my first 1/2 year, so I have good reason to hate it.

Vacuuming I don't mind, and have to do it a bare minimum once a week because of the dogs. I get little doggie hair tumble weeds in the carpet if I wait longer than a week lol. I would already have a Roomba vacuum, but I don't think it can handle the dog hair unless I was running the damn thing every day.

She gets offended by offhanded things, but when I'm blunt about something she just rolls her eyes.

    Kind of strange.

I despise dishes to the point that I'm actually considering heavy paper plates when the wife goes through her carpal tunnel surgeries.

I can handle dishes as long as they're my own. I am terrified of other people's uneaten food remnants. This is why I could never work in food service. It took me a long time to get used to cleaning up dishes after my kids. If I wash dishes after you, I trust you.

Case in point: I can't even wash dishes after my parents.

That's pretty interesting Aks, what if they clear their plates before hand? Or is it just a saliva thing?

It doesn't matter. Remnants freak me out. Just the idea that there was some uneaten food left behind is enough to make me shudder. Even if they rinse it and do the garbage disposal themselves. Doing dishes was how my parents used to punish me, which yes, is fucked up, because you don't exploit someone's phobia/mental issue as a punishment.

I worked in a restaurant one day and even putting my thumb at the very tip of a plate when I picked it off a table was enough to turn me off from it forever. I still shudder thinking about it. People are really gross in general, but food is just one of those things I can't handle. It shouldn't pass notice that I'm a picky eater and I have a lot of trouble with new/unfamiliar foods in general, too. My boyfriend considers it a miracle that I made it through BCT.

does the phobia predate the punishment? because childhood punishments are pretty powerful psychologically; i could see developing the phobia as a result.

I have always been disgusted by dishes, but to be honest I don't really know. I remember feeling emotionally traumatized by having to do dishes but I can't remember if those were earlier episodes or if it had always been that way. This is at least 25 years ago, so my memory is fuzzy. I remember crying and shaking and my parents just thinking I was making it up to get out of doing work.

and here I thought my beer connoisseur sister deciding she couldn't have gluten in any of her actual food (and therefore has to always determine the menu, pick restaurants, etc.) was creative

Yeah I have food issues bordering on an eating disorder but I'm such a weirdo and probably the only person with these anxieties so it's not classified as anything except general anxiety, maybe PTSD if it was my parents' creation, it doesn't hinder my way of life since I live alone anyway so it's not really a big deal. Living with roommates was hard to deal with though. I stopped cooking in the apartment so I wouldn't have any dishes to do.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

^ Dishes aren't a problem for me! Don't mind vaccuming either though that has been impossible to do the last few weeks with newborn and toddler and that is driving me nuts.

Cleaning the bathroom however...now that I hate!

My wife is good about that bathroom. With only two humans, and a baby on the way, it doesn't get all that messed up.

I will have to admit though, my #1 issue.......... the fucking Cat Box. My 1 stipulation when we bought the house was that I DO NOT scoop or change cat litter. Well I got screwed there, as she can't handle cat litter while pregnant lol.

Normally this wouldn't be a big deal. Husband just sucks it up scoops/changes the cat litter.

Nope for the past couple weeks I've actually been buying new litter boxes. Well the bottoms anyways. I'll go into the bathroom once a week, pop the top off.... throw the entire bottom, litter and all, into the garbage. Then just fill up the new bottom for the litter box with fresh litter and call it a day.

This is going to get expensive at $10/week in new litter pans haha, so I think I'm going to have to buy one of those cheapo 3M respirator masks to do it properly.

I just cannot stomach the smell of cat pee and litter dust that comes up when you scoop it.

toilet training is definitely the best option if you can't handle dealing with it, but I've actually found a pretty fucking awesome litterbox

    it's manually automatic

basically it's a covered litterbox that has a little divider with slits in it that loose litter can slide through

you roll it over to one side til the top touches the ground, then roll it back, and there's basically a big scoop drawer that all the chunks land in

I got mine for like $20 at wal-mart.

oh and here's a vlogger guy with the exact model/color I got https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqXdrphSaUM

edit: ignore the 2nd link unless you just wanna see the box, nothing useful in that vid

I didn't know litter box liners existed. I figured something like that would be available, I was going to use garbage bags.

Toilet training- Aint no body got time for that. Seriously though, I have no time or patience for that.

Rolling Cat Litter Box - Now we're talking. That looks like it works pretty damn well.

Thanks for the assistance either way! The cat lives in the bathroom during the day, and has free roam over the house at night. So while the toilet training would be a perfect solution, I just physically do not have the time to be dealing with that.

Yeah, liners are the way to go. Some cats though shred the liners though, so see how that goes. I've tried the rolling litter boxes too, too much of a hassle IMO. Just get the liners. Cheap and fast to clean up.
