The majority of places that have a high sales volume do not have manual card imprinters. It's not feasible to use them. Furthermore, as someone else mentioned, manually entering a card without taking an imprint is a tremendous fraud risk. It isn't a small one, but a huge one, and in fact the most convenient loophole a fraudster could ask for.

Someone else mentioned that they were aggravated by places that don't take cards which are either missing a signature or say "See ID." Do you know why? Because anyone who leaves their signature field blank or writes "See ID" is a fucking tool. Despite the fact that an abundance of places do ask for your ID, they are not required to, and major credit card companies actively discourage this practice.

Furthermore, writing "See ID" is a problem for the same reason places aren't supposed to ask for your ID, and it's—once again—fraud. Skilled fraudsters, many of whom do work at flipping burgers or serving coffee, will memorize the relevant details on your ID while taking down your credit card info. Once they've done that, do you know where they'd love to take that info and go on a shopping spree?

Oh, probably places that let you manually input credit card numbers without using an imprint machine.

I am so confused by this post. You said that someone was complaining about places that don't take cards that are missing a signature or "See ID", but the only people complaining are people talking about no one checking ID even when the card is obviously not yours. Then you say that writing "See ID" on your credit card is fraud. Then you say checking ID leads to more fraud and that not checking for ID is actually an anti-fraud practice. Am I reading this wrong?

Thats the thing though lol. The point of the fail was that the employees were stupid. Dunno how the fuck this blew up into 2-3 pages or w/e now.

Complaining about the old card not working is not the same thing as not understanding why it doesn't work. And you got me on the second part I never mentioned a specific time of 10 days, but I did mention that it would take time for the new card to get here leaving a gap in between when the old card was dead and the new card was available.

Another fail for me:
I went to Atlanta last week for a conference and while we were there, we drove around looking at the older areas and admiring the houses. Here in Oregon, there are no signal lights on residential streets that have no lane lines. In Atlanta, apparently there are. I was driving along a little tiny residential street and a signal light appeared from behind an oak tree that was partially covering it. I was so surprised that I didn't even react...I just drove right through the intersection. Remember that this was a little tiny residential street and there were no other cars within sight, but it was still a pretty good fail on my part. I haven't done anything like that since I was first learning to drive 15 years ago...

the really nice neighborhoods get doubly obnoxious in atlanta, they have speed tables every 3 seconds and stop lights at every intersection

It's basically a very wide speed bump that is flat on top and spans about 25' so that even vehicles with long wheel bases have to slow down but not as slow as traditional speed bumps.

Follow up to my shitty day. My son has a milk protein allergy and I was thrown out of my physical and drug screening for being too sick. Nurse wouldn't touch me. Rescheduled for next week. In the mean time, ibuprofen, Imodium, cefdinir, phernergan. Fuck yeah drugs.
