There are some with medications. I was on meds for about six months my senior year of high school and they wouldn't let me.

But nowadays I get a tattoo at least once a year, so I'd never be allowed to donate.

I don't donate. I hate needles, but that isn't what stops me. I had hepatitis A when I was young. I know, I know, it shouldn't be in my blood anymore, but I just can't bring myself to do it as I am terrified I'd give it to someone.

i struggle to get my iron higher than ~3. also with all the meds i'm on/have been on i can pretty much never donate.

prosthetic body like in GITS:SAC is looking increasingly attractive though, tell you what. this swollen limb shit is really fucking annoying. it's not a pain i'm used to, so its harder to cope with. like, even at its worst, the abdominal pain is still something i KNOW. i know it intimately. i know what each little twinge and stab means, i know how to read it, i know how to alleviate it somewhat.

this shit... nope. it's nowhere near the severity of the abdominal stuff but it bothers me more.

This is a random fail with a potential for a small win. Our boxer had a bad limp on Friday, so we took him into the vet. Their initial diagnosis was a partial ACL tear, and he was going to need surgery. After they took xrays, they couldn't see enough evidence of a tear, so they told us to keep him off of it for a week. If he's better in a week, we're in the clear. If he's still limping in a week, or if it gets worse, bring him back in. His limp went away for a couple days, but it came back Tuesday night, and had a lot of swelling along with it yesterday, so the vet set an appointment to bring him back in today. Along with the swelling, they found that he has a fever of 104, so they're starting to rule out ACL and think it's a bad infection. They're going to keep him for 2-4 days and have him on an IV for fluids and antibiotics. They may still do surgery if they find any joint damage or scar tissue, but otherwise we might get our small win and get him back in full health as early as Saturday.

Okay, I have been stuck by needles several times in 33 years, most recently when I joined the Army, but I wasn't allowed to keep those records when I got out, so I asked my mom for my old medical file and faxed that to the Health and Services department and it's not acceptable because it isn't some official document.

Okay. It was 1981. Record keeping wasn't exactly stellar back then. I can't remember my pediatrician's name, but I'm pretty sure he died, and I know the old facility that I used to go to is long gone. I could try to contact the health department but my hopes of getting anything from them, especially in time for the start of the semester, are pretty much shot to hell.

So it looks like I'm going to have to get a full battery of painful shots in order to bypass this, and while I'm perfectly okay with tattoo needles, I really dislike getting shots.

Fuck.

They straight up fucking did. I asked several times because I was pregnant and I would want them for my OB/GYN and they were like, "Nope, against policy. You'll have to request them from [insert records place]." Maybe it was because I was stationed in Germany. I have no idea. I've always thought it was bullshit but then again who the fuck was I to argue? E-4 leaving in three days, I sure didn't wanna rock the boat.

Pretty sure you can go to the local VA Hospital and request a copy but it's going to take some time months.

The VA can provide you with those records, but at the end of the day, those are your personal records; if they weren't going to outright give them to you, you should've requested/demanded a copy of them for your personal keepsake. Of course, this is all hindsight, but the more you know, etc.

Trust me I did ask, several times. I was out processing and I was very pregnant and I couldn't let anything hold me up from leaving Germany. If I hadn't left when I did, I wouldn't have been allowed to fly back to the States.

2 days ago, I ran over a piece of construction scrap that fell out of a truck in front of me. It flattened 2 tires and I had to be towed for the first time ever. Lucky for me, having connections at AAA = free towing without needing a membership! I got the tires fixed and was on my way to work 2 hours later. Then, today, I found a screw in one of the tires that I just had fixed >.< Les Schwab doesn't want to fix it for free a second time so I have to pay $25. I think I will send my wife in later today. They cater to women.

Les Schwab wants to charge me $25 to fix a tire that they just fixed 2 days ago. They don't charge women for that same thing. It's an unwritten company policy. So if she takes the truck in to get the tire fixed, we get it for free.

One of my coworkers has mono for the 2nd time in about a year and a half. Last time he was out for six weeks. Feel awful for the guy. We all share a lot of the same equipment, so we've been disinfecting work stations like crazy. I REALLY hope nobody else gets hit with it, can't afford to miss that much work.
