I was eating solid steaks on day 2 after having all four of my Wisdom teeth out.

My fail. I popped 2 Zopiclone sleeping pills 4 hours ago, fell asleep 2 hours woke, woke up 10 minutes ago. Fucking CF digestive system

I didn't shed a tear the whole time, even though I was very upset. My gf ran out when it came time to put her down, so I leave and console her. I stayed outside until her parents came out, they couldn't watch either, but I couldn't leave her there with out someone she knows. Being the only family there while she went is what broke me though =( a life filled with 14 years of experience ending in the few seconds it takes to inject some drugs, how depressing.

Next beer is for you Sandy. Rest in peace girl.

I could never watch it, never ever. Hell I didn't even see my boyfriend's dog after he started deteriorating (nor get to say goodbye) and it still tore me the fuck up inside.

Got a call this morning that my nephew had a seizure last night. After being taken to the hospital and a full running of tests, they determined it was fever induced and not a serious cause for worry. He is teething, and happened to be dealing with high fever last night (100ish). Poor little guy, glad he's doing ok now though.

And for the story about putting down the dog... I seriously hope my dogs go when they are ready on their own terms. I most assuredly couldn't be in the room when either was being put down.

i hugged and snuggled my dog while we put her down. she always hated the vet's; the rooms echo, and the sound freaked her out. especially once she went blind. so that was the deal: i hug her and hold her head so she knows it's safe, she doesn't pitch a fit.

she went out grumbling. vet said it wouldnt hurt. he lied. that big ol' needle certainly did. still better than the misery she was in, though.

god she was such a good dog. i miss her.

The way they did it to my dog was they took him into another room and put a catheter for the needle in, brought him back and gave us a few minutes and then just injected it into the catheter. He went without so much as flinching with my mom, dad and I holding him. My sister couldn't handle being there.

I still choke up when I think about him but it's only been 7 months.

EDIT: I found this post on reddit that helped me have a different outlook on it though, prepare for feels.

I didn't write this, but I love it.

.Some of you, particularly those who think they have recently lost a dog to “death”, don’t really understand this. I’ve had no desire to explain, but won’t be around forever and must.

Dogs never die. They don’t know how to. They get tired, and very old, and their bones hurt. Of course they don’t die. If they did they would not want to always go for a walk, even long after their old bones say:” No, no, not a good idea. Let’s not go for a walk.” Nope, dogs always want to go for a walk. They might get one step before their aging tendons collapse them into a heap on the floor, but that’s what dogs are. They walk.

It’s not that they dislike your company. On the contrary, a walk with you is all there is. Their boss, and the cacaphonic symphony of odor that the world is. Cat poop, another dog’s mark, a rotting chicken bone ( exultation), and you. That’s what makes their world perfect, and in a perfect world death has no place.

However, dogs get very very sleepy. That’s the thing, you see. They don’t teach you that at the fancy university where they explain about quarks, gluons, and Keynesian economics. They know so much they forget that dogs never die. It’s a shame, really. Dogs have so much to offer and people just talk a lot.

When you think your dog has died, it has just fallen asleep in your heart. And by the way, it is wagging it’s tail madly, you see, and that’s why your chest hurts so much and you cry all the time. Who would not cry with a happy dog wagging its tail in their chest. Ouch! Wap wap wap wap wap, that hurts. But they only wag when they wake up. That’s when they say: “Thanks Boss! Thanks for a warm place to sleep and always next to your heart, the best place.”

When they first fall asleep, they wake up all the time, and that’s why, of course, you cry all the time. Wap, wap, wap. After a while they sleep more. (remember, a dog while is not a human while. You take your dog for walk, it’s a day full of adventure in an hour. Then you come home and it’s a week, well one of your days, but a week, really, before the dog gets another walk. No WONDER they love walks.)

Anyway, like I was saying, they fall asleep in your heart, and when they wake up, they wag their tail. After a few dog years, they sleep for longer naps, and you would too. They were a GOOD DOG all their life, and you both know it. It gets tiring being a good dog all the time, particularly when you get old and your bones hurt and you fall on your face and don’t want to go outside to pee when it is raining but do anyway, because you are a good dog. So understand, after they have been sleeping in your heart, they will sleep longer and longer.

But don’t get fooled. They are not “dead.” There’s no such thing, really. They are sleeping in your heart, and they will wake up, usually when you’re not expecting it. It’s just who they are.

I feel sorry for people who don’t have dogs sleeping in their heart. You’ve missed so much. Excuse me, I have to go cry now.

    Re: Dog

I went through the same shit. My mom had to put her dog down due to cancer making his quality of life just miserable. When it came time to do the injection, my mom immediately jumps up and leaves the room with my wife quickly following suit. I'll never forget the feeling of watching him go to sleep for the last time, but I'm sure the knowledge of having him die surrounded by strangers would feel 100x worse so I'm glad that I did it. So props for being there for her.

Fail: Ordered something from Japan. It was shipped out March 14th and tracking hasn't been updated since. I've called the post office three times and have gotten three different answers as to where the package could be. Last time that I called, I was on hold for almost an hour and was told that the package was in customs in Japan. When I asked whether it's normal for a package to go through a country of origin's customs (I assumed a package only had to clear customs in the destination country), she copped an attitude and hung up on me.

My parent's dog went on her own, thankfully. We were just starting to think about possibly putting her down as her joints were obviously starting to cause her immense pain. She, thankfully, went on her own but that was still gut wrenching to be there for.

I've had the pleasure of having 4 teeth removed at one time twice in my life. The second time was my wisdom teeth and happened just before Thanksgiving. You can imagine how thrilled I was to be eating mush instead of turkey that year.

Well, I just got a good one.

My nieces got HEAD LICE. Now I need to figure out how to clean the lice off my headset, ohjoy, for I was sitting in a cloth covered chair the girls were sitting in(so I'm going to have to wash my hair. I'll proly baggie my headphones and headset and put them in the deep freeze before I go to bed...Freezer gets rid of a lot of bugs.)

Ugh ugh though. Now my head itches..

Gonna go ahead and not click that he he. The gf is doing better today, just sucks cause her brother is 16 going on 12 and refuses to think about moving her bed, bowl, pictures, etc.

I know you wanna mourn kid, but this is like a band aid; rip it off fast and take it one day at a time. Weird though, seeing her fur everywhere. Lint catcher, bed, pants lol.

I wish hey; I'm trying to rectify some rl messes and to be honest, I can't afford new ones right now.

So I need to salvage'em. ^^ Hopefully overnight in that chest freezer'll do the trick.

i have another dog so the bowl/etc stayed but the bed went, and i never had many pictures, but those would have stayed. that's what pictures are for. i kept her collar and stuck it in my little wooden treasure chest my grandma gave me where i keep all my most important sentimental keepsakes. my old lab's fur got everywhere, though, and it took a long time to stop clogging vents. im sure if you check in nooks and crannies you can still find her fur years later. she would always shove doors out of the way so my bedroom door has this big black spot on it from years of being shouldered aside, lol. kinda gross i guess but it doesn't stink and doesn't bother anyone, and none of us are big on cleaning (go figure), so its an interesting reminder of her.

I have 6 smoke alarms in my house. All but one of them is in a bedroom or other 8ft ceiling. So naturally at 430am last night the alarm in the vaulted ceiling (12ft) decided to have a low battery and chirp every minute or so. Had to get my ladder out of the garage and go kill the damn thing.

    Fuck. That. Shit.

Agreed. When my family's cat (the one on my avatar) died, I was at school and got a message that they're taking him to the veterinarian for euthanization. To this day, I wish I had just skipped classes and rushed there. For almost 20 years, he was always there and everyone knew him, even in FFXI (though they didn't really love him there). He had that habit of climbing up the house's wall to my window, then meowing outside because he knew I'd heave him into my room. So whenever I heard him meowing, I would just give a quick warning in Teamspeak ("Bobby!"), take off my headset, use either Sentinel or Invincible (I was usually tanking something) and get him inside. When his health started getting worse, I let him sleep with me on my bed even as he started emitting increasingly unpleasant odours. Not having been there in his last moments, letting him know that I was there for him, is painful, really. That's primarily why I can't understand why people would willingly do that on grounds of not being able to watch the process; it's definitely painful, but I think you ought to bear with that when an important member of your family is dying and just wishing to be surrounded by the people they love.

That's highly unusual. Usually, they only go through the outward office of exchange, but as far as I know, they're not being thoroughly inspected there or anything, maybe sorted at best. That being said, that progress doesn't take much more than a few minutes, maybe few hours if it comes down to it.

Which shipping option did you pick? Sometimes, it helps to check different tracking services; you can see what they say here if you haven't done so already.
