Random Fail: First World Problems

So. My backyard has a mole problem. I go to Home Depot and pick up a solar powered mole repellent thinger. You stick it in the ground and it emits a chirping noise every minute that is supposed to mimic their calls when there's danger. I go to cut the grass today and notice that it's out of the ground smashed to pieces. Several paw prints like this one are surrounding it. It's bigger than my hand. I'm thinking a black bear?

Are you east of Pittsburgh? I thought black bears didn't normally come this far west, though they definitely exist in pennsyltucky.

PS. I guess the other option is neighbors, if the mole thing is audible.

We're north of Pittsburgh in Allison Park. It's a bear that smashed up the mole trap. The thing is pretty much obliterated. The end of our yard drops off into the woods. There's always some form of wild life in our yard.

I'm not too concerned but our neighbors on both sides have small children that run around all three of our yards like lunatics with very little supervision. Plus they have little rat dogs that would basically be snacks.

Only thing I can do is call the Pa. Fish and Game Commission tomorrow morning and report tracks. Unless the bear is actually sighted I don't think they do much of anything.

Too bad bear season is in November, I'd send my dad down there. He's been hunting bear for as long as I can remember.

Unless the bear is actually sighted I don't think they do much of anything.

I think a large bear paw and a destroyed anti-mole sonar consists of a sighting, atleast worth checking.

Unless it's a mother with cubs or someone is baiting (feeding) the bear, Fish and Game won't do anything. The kids and dogs being outside is a good thing. Black Bears aren't very confrontational, once scared off a few times they'll usually stay away too.... unless someone is feeding them.

If they are being fed Fish and Game will come in a trap it, and typically fine the shit out of the person they find feeding them.

So the sewer pump truck guy from Wednesday filed a complaint with the City of Tigard over the officer's conduct when the officer made him move his truck. Tigard police want a statement from me as well....Fuck that shit. You were blocking the road and got called out for it. Now you're going to cry about it and drag me into it?

Also, this morning a friend of ours came over to hang with the wife and let the little ones play but drove into the ditch surrounding our property when she tried to pull in the driveway. I haven't seen the damage yet, but the ditch is 3 feet deep and 4-5 feet wide. It can't be good. Minivan drivers indeed...

Talking with my brother who is in the Army alongside my sister in law about some sciences. Both are religious... So ya theory of evolution comes up and she says its a "theory" I respond back with theory does not mean its not well documented and to think about theory of relativity vs newtons laws.

The answer I get is "relativity's laws are theory and his are law"... I gave up after that.

House we bought has three clothes poles cemented in the backyard for when the old owners would hang the laundry. I'd been putting it off for over a year but today I get the bright idea to at least remove the poles. Grab the trusty sledgehammer to break the concrete around the base and the sawzall to cut the pipe. After about an hour of smashing the base on two posts all the concrete is gone. Take the sawzall to the poles. Nothing. Not a damn thing. Brand new blade too. I keep at it and cut around the base a little to the point there's a 1/2 inch gap. The fucking asshole poured cement in the top of both poles. Which also explains why I was unable to bend them at all. Now the only option I have is picking up a jackhammer and removing both slabs. fml.
