That's probably a sign you're doing something really lol-worthy.

exactly, I was referring to you buddy, mostly from poopdeck threads.
Random Fail: Nynja can't understand what deterrent means. Also, Nynja believes all robberies happen because of hollywood style planning. Protip: most petty crimes are crimes of opportunity.
Guy walks by a store while coming down from his latest high. He is contemplating where to get his next hit from. Realizes guy in store is counting money behind the counter and has an epiphany. He can just take that money and BAM there's his next hit. He goes for the door...oh damn, it's locked...and now the clerk is aware of his presence before he even gets into the store. Guy thinks "Nevermind, I'll just keep walking so I don't have to detox in downtown lock-up."
Now leave the door unlocked and see how that story plays out. It's really really simple. Like locking your car door to keep your stereo.
There's a common misconception that the word "deter" means "makes it completely impossible"
and since we all know it's not possible to make robberies etc impossible, all deterrents are scams. Or something.
de·ter·rent/diˈtərənt/
Noun:
A thing that discourages or is intended to discourage someone from some act.
Adjective:
Able or intended to deter.
I think your dumbass thought I wrote detergent? I dont know, but your little story is pretty stupid. If you feel you should be THAT precautionary, why should you leave your house? You could be walking down the street listening to music in your ipod, and said guy coming down from his latest high could think 'He can just take that ipod, pawn it and BAM there's his next hit'. Or he could see you talking on your phone, same scenario. Or he can think you look like an easy target and take your money, same scenario. Or maybe can have a gun/knife, and have a delusional case while he's high and think you're someone he owes a lot of money to and attacks you out of fear. The bus you're riding could be part of a terrorist attack and trapped with a bomb. WHO KNOWS. But considering you seem to think that cause someones behind a counter it means theres automatically money in the open, why dont all stores keep their doors locked at all times and let people in? Stupid idea, eh? Well, provided the employees are doing their job and keeping the amount of cash in the till low, it shouldnt take more than 1 minute to count the cash and lock it up.
After 6 years of Subway, both stores I've worked at never got robbed while I was doing what I did, and both times the stores did get robbed was once during store hours, and once at 3am when the streets are empty.
2 1/2 years at the video store I worked at, same thing, although management was more serious, and there was more money involved, so doors were locked at night, but there were no attacks on the store after closing time, and the one time the store was robbed was during store hours.
What do you want me to tell you? Perhaps people who want to attempt robberies know that odds are store doors will be unlocked during store hours? Or maybe I'm just lucky.
Random fail, 6 years at subway
Random Win: Unaware of the oddity of my favorite local pizza store hours, I walked into it as they were closing. The chick behind the counter told me that they were closed. I told her to have a nice night. She then proceeded to give me a free pizza AND some free garlic cheese bread AND some free hot wings.
Random fail: Getting a call from a coworker at 0545hours asking what he's supposed to do in a certain situation (I had just arrived home, so I wasn't asleep), telling him exactly what to do, and getting an e-mail from another coworker about twenty minutes ago advising that none of what this first coworker had been told to do had been done. Yay.
I've been on a fucked sleep schedule for the past week or so (recently had surgery to fix my deviated septum, sleeping was hell for a while). So I stayed awake 30something hours in an attempt to get back to normal. I then slept 18 hours, waking up at the exact same time as before.
Slippery Slope is fun!
On another note, I had an employee not show up for work this morning...claims he had a dentist appointment that he forgot about. This is the third "forgotten" appointment from him in the last month. Maybe he will remember a little better when he is sitting on his couch browsing craigslist for a new job. He didn't even bother calling. I found out from his neighbor that he usually carpools with. Random Fail.
Fuck.
I agreed to come into work tonight on my day off for five hours to cover for my boss and now I just straight up just don't want to. I could use the extra OT for sure, but I really wish I could just say no.
That happens all the time to me , at old navy I used to do logisitics which is a fancy word for opening boxes and restocking, well in order to keep my job I got switched to Facilities which is cleaning the store. If I have a day off the next day the boss and one of her underlings will corner me and ask if I wanna come in tomorrow. I usually say yes but then after I to will feel like I wish I had said no. Because sometimes coming in at 5am only to see shit smeared across the walls of the womens bathroom is not something I enjoy cleaning.
I fucking knew I would regret going to work today! I was just finishing closing when the main computer I was on started acting all wonky, fucking thing got a virus somehow and I was powerless to stop it, because, you know, work computers and admin passwords and all. Fucking great. So I'm freaking out wondering what the fuck I did wrong, I put in an IT request and e-mailed my boss and a few others, and I called the second in command, who is just above me in the line.
"Oh, that computer's been acting weird for a few weeks now. Random pop-ups and other stupid shit."
REALLY!?!?!?!?!?!
. . .
No ... REALLY!?!?!?!?!?! So instead of preventive maintenance we just let it go, so it would go completely haywire?
/fume.
I've had conversations with chicks in the past where they bitch about the state of their public restrooms and insist that women's bathrooms are dirtier than men's. Needless to say, I always called bullshit on them and cited the multiple times that I've found turds in urinals, etc.
But then I experienced the joys of a hoverer.
So, I was in an airplane coming back from Europe and somehow I got bumped to the middle of the back row right in front of the bathrooms. One of the two worst seats on the plane (competing with the other guy in the middle with me), but I was glad they didn't leave me in Germany so tolerated it. It was about an hour before landing and I decided to go to the bathroom because:
1) The guy beside me had finally woken up.
2) I needed to catch a tight connection and didn't want to waste time on the ground.
I was standing at the bathroom door and a 40ish woman eventually comes out. I went in and found piss all over the seat / on the floor and a skid-mark or two on the toilet seat. Hoverer, one of those that are too holy to let their ass touch a toilet seat. I had been warned, but I wasn't really prepared. Turds in the urinal are bad, but kind of funny in a juvenile way. Seeing a ~40 year old woman leave the bathroom in that state is just atrocious. Regardless, I shrugged it off, wiped it up, and threw away the paper towels in the trash. Opening the trashcan was when the smell hit me. I swear she (or at least someone) had decided to throw away their shit in the trash can instead of flushing the toilet. Oh god, the smell.
Still though, I only had to piss so I whipped it out, got to work, and flushed. Suddenly I noticed liquid at my feet. "What the fuck? I just cleaned this up! Oooohhh, thanks US Air. Nice toilet." At this point I'd already wiped piss up and cleaned a toilet seat once, but I was resolved to not leave it for the next guy like the woman before me so I started doing it again. It turns out that this time (unlike the last) the liquid flowing out of the toilet was just the volatile cleaning fluid they use to wash the bowl when you flush. It didn't smell like piss at all, wasn't yellow, and the floor dried instantly when I wiped it with a paper towel.
So the mystery of why someone was hesitant to flush their shit was solved, but I still haven't forgiven hoverers everywhere.
Fuck.
I agreed to come into work tonight on my day off for five hours to cover for my boss and now I just straight up just don't want to. I could use the extra OT for sure, but I really wish I could just say no.
There's public restrooms down on the National Mall here in D.C. One such is just East of the Washington Monument and I had to piss really bad while waiting for my ride to pick me up. All the urinals are covered in black plastic bags and two are occupied. First stall: log sticking OUT of the water and piss everywhere. Next stall has toilet paper everywhere and a mound of newspapers next to the toilet (someone's bed?). The last stall (the stalls go top to bottom with no gaps under and over the doors... I guess to dissuade people from doing the prostitution/pickup guys in bathrooms thing) and it says unoccupied. So I push it open and there's a dude laying on the fucking tile next to the toilet. He just looks up at me and says "Get the fuck out". After that I just gave up and pissed in the trashcan where someone had tossed about a thousand cans of Natty Light.
i work for a local council and in all fairness i really do feel sorry for the cleaning lady, in the first 6 month of working there all the toilets had been blocked up, on a once weekly router someone was shitting on the toilet seat (hovering) and it was dripping down around the floor, one morning we all get called in the locker room, which is pretty odd since we never see our boss in the morning, so we are stuck in the locker room and all you can smell is shit presuming some one has left something in there locker and the boss wants to knows who's locker it is, nope someone from the 6am shift has come into the locker room and shit behind the radiator while it was off, this is now about 7:40am the radiators get turned on at 6:30 for the past 70 min's this turd has been slow cooking in a closed room, luckily no one has shit in the locker room for 2 years now but the smell never left that room....
Hovering is actually worse than letting your ass touch the toilet seat. When hovering, unless you have great calf/thigh strength you have to be gripping the toilet seat with your hands.
Personally, rather get germs on my ass, which doesn't generally touch all my stuff, than on my hands, which do.
