Went to visit my mom (and by extension, my hometown) this past weekend, and holy shit, I'd forgotten how fucking boring Erie, PA actually is.
Any doubts I have that I made a bad decision by moving have been effectively erased.

Remember, it could be worse.
You could have been from Ohio, and been instilled with the pressing need to escape the gravity well of the entire damned planet.
I flew into Cleveland, so I had to experience Ohio again, too.
I lived in Youngstown for a few months and I wanted to kill myself. Ohio sucks.
im not sure florida's an improvement
It may not be, but it's home, and it doesn't snow here.
I'll keep it.
YOU MEAN YOU DON'T LIKE SHOVELING AND CRASHING YOUR CAR?! HEATHEN
I fucking hate Ohio. I lived in Michigan near Detroit for about 5 years and had to periodically go to Ohio for work doing inventory of Kroger and smaller chain grocery stores.
That place is a shithole and I'll live happily never going back as it was worse than Florida. This coming from the girl who was born and raised in Florida and stuck there for 23 years.
Kicked the end of my bed last night and thought nothing of it. Woke up with a sliced top of my foot scabbing over and blood on my sheets.
WHAT A DAY.
I forgot my dog's birthday was today -_-
Homeboy is getting hooked up with a doggie feast for dinner tonight.
That's only about half true. I know plenty of people who think that way, but there are plenty of others who constantly put down Erie on a regular basis. (Dreary Erie, the Mistake on a Lake) Although they definitely don't take kindly to outsiders saying Erie sucks.
I guess I get a pass because I grew up there.
The funny part to me is people wondering why young people move away. Well let's see. Citizens are getting older and not retiring, which leaves less jobs for the young people entering the market. Not to mention there is less than nothing to fucking do there ... the whole of Erie County is aging and they're so damn set in their ways (and racist as fuck, to boot) and I could barely stand it while I was there.
And even worse, I was gone for 6 years and literally not one thing about my small hometown had changed. Not even the paint colors on people's houses. It's like someone hit the pause button while I was gone. Talk about stagnating.
So in lieu of getting a new job I've been trying to finish up this interior design project for a client so I can start next Monday. Today I receive word that she wants to add an addition to her home which throws a wrench in the whole "Finish quick and start new job asap". Oy. Commence hell-week.
I grew up in Erie, and moved to DC and now NYC.
When my mom visited me in DC, we went to a restaurant and ate outside. Something which she had never heard of or done before.
Years later she told me when she is feeling sad she imagines walking around the nice parts of DC, eating outside, having more food options than Italian. It was kind of heartbreaking lol.
Going through a few days of training for a new client based in Minnesota with a few other people in my current group.
Spent the last half hour with my coach who is also with the training program trying to get everyone to log into the right VMware, get everything set up etc...
Some people are just not meant to work with computers.
Heh, so another fail.
Right after the first day training session, 5 of us from that group and a few others on the normal lines get sent invites to a group meeting. The head of our HR staff in there, as our both our coaches and the portfolio manager was supposed to be there too (on a business trip apparently). So everyones wondering what the fuck is going on.
Our client, Chicago Sun-Times, has decided to move their phone service over seas to I assume is India (they said off shore). I'm not too worried though, as obviously being in training for another position they obviously want to keep me.
The fail though is our HR staff didn't realize some of us were already in training this morning when they told us hahaha. Freaked out a few people as they thought they were still going to be let go at the end of August.
