So I'm taking 6 credits during the summer semester, which actually ends this week. I had gotten an e-mail from Sallie Mae about two months ago regarding my forbearance ending, so I called them and got it straightened out.
Or so I thought.
Check my bank account this morning and what's there? A huge charge from fucking Sallie Mae. One that I didn't have the money in my bank account to cover. As most people, I don't like seeing my bank account dip into the red. So I call Sallie Mae as soon as they opened, at 8AM. I was a complete and total bitch to the rep, laying into him because they specifically told me that my forbearance for all of my loans was in full effect and I should not have to worry about any payments until I graduate. He looked at my notes and confirmed that that was indeed what I was told, but apparently, that person was wrong.
So apparently, even though I'm actively enrolled in school - 6 credits is all I need for summer semester to be on deferment - Sallie Mae doesn't believe I am. And because my autodebit from several years ago was apparently never canceled (WHY), they just took this large sum of money out of my account.
No letters
No e-mail
No text notification
Just money taken out. So of course, I'm fucking pissed, the guy says "well maybe we can refund it and I'll put you on a 60 day administrative deferment for now while we get this straightened out" (which I guess was something) but he keeps telling me that I should have been notified or should have gotten an e-mail or a letter.
So I check my personal e-mail, about 5 minutes ago ...
There's the e-mail ... sent at 10:34AM ... several hours after they'd taken the money out of my account. Um, aren't they supposed to notify you ... BEFORE a payment is due?
Fuck Sallie Mae.
