oh I got a story from awhile back;
I was working sales in CompUSA right when Tigerdirect bought them out and forced commission only pay on sales people. Easiest money I ever made. Anyway I digress; the place to hang out as a sales guy was in the PC parts section, since most items although low priced payed out 9% commission and was the busiest part of the store. (those 20 dollar USB cables added up) However that section was like a breeding ground for, to quote Dilbert, in-duh-viduals.
I think in a few short months of employment there, I literally have enough Fail material to write a novel. My anger however, is reserved for the special breed of consumer that through some regretful misunderstanding in their life, somehow assumed they are technically literate. Got a perfect example that somehow stuck in memory.
Cust: Hey, you work here?
MeNo I just enjoy dressing like an idiot) Yes sir, how can I help you?
Cust: I'm looking for a COM port.
Me: Okay, do you want a PCI or USB adapter?
Cust: No.
Me: Wut?
Cust: a COM port
Me: Oh do you have a laptop? (thinking he wants an expresscard adapter or something)
Cust: No
Me: I don't know what you are asking of me then.
Cust: COM port, you don't know what a COM port is?
Me: I guess not
Cust: This is a computer store, you work here?
Me: We established this at the beginning of our conversation
Cust: Nevermind, I'll find it myself
Me: Ok sir. (don't hurt yourself)
I'm still trying to figure out what he was looking for. It sure as hell wasn't in our store, he spent 2 hours looking.
