My coworker absolutely hates Obama but she insists on listening to all of his speeches at work and then complaining about what he says.

I'm not the greatest Obama fan myself, but I don't go out of my way to listen to him and then annoy people in the immediate vicinity by bitching about it.

Anytime someone brings up politics I just say something along the lines of.

Romney and Obama both want to fuck you. The only difference is Romney will give it to you up front missionary, whereas Obama will try to slip in from the rear

Most of my bitching in this thread probably centers around my one coworker, and she's just an ignorant fuckwit, to be honest. I wouldn't say that's indicative of Florida as a whole.

Though there is definitely some stupidity, don't get me wrong. There are actually normal people here, too.

Oh no that IS Florida as a whole , having lived there most of my life that fucking cesspool can drift off into the ocean for all I care.
Every time I think it can't be that bad - I see a post from people I went to school with that are still there and YUP , still that bad.

I also was born/grew up in the Tampa Bay area so I know that as much as things change they stay the same..

I'm actually proud of myself for responding like that, if I'm being honest, because I tend to avoid confrontation, but you cannot talk shit about the military in my presence and then expect me to not call you out on your bullshit.

As someone who grew up in Erie, PA, that couldn't be further from the truth. This place does actually change, people come and go, companies come and go. It's alive and vibrant, not stagnant and depressing. I would never ever go back to the shit hole I grew up in.

Will I leave Tampa? Probably eventually, but I like it here now.

arent airmen also soldiers? or is soldier an actual specific term you fuckers use? cos i would consider pretty much anyone in the armed forces a soldier. particularly combat roles.

Soldiers are Army, Sailors are Navy, Marines are Marines, and Airmen are Air Force.

It's always been that way, as long as I can remember. I wouldn't be really butthurt if you called me a Sailor (I was Army) but I would correct someone who said it wrong. And ignorant civilians are just a part of life, but then for someone to be corrected and say what she said, I lost what little respect I had left for her after that.

If the distinction is such a big deal, they probably should stop lacing all of their army marketing/advertising videos, materials, etc, with clips of the biggest/baddest ships, jet fighters, etc, as if it's implied that a soldier would have anything to do with them (normally).
