no you only get that when you play too much diablo
I get a little bit of money from the VA for school every month so I'm actually considering cutting back on some things and seeing if I can just not work the rest of my way through college, it will be a hell of a lot less stressful.
oh i missed that, that sucks.
i'd suggest looking into assistance programs and whatnot but florida hates poor people so i doubt there are any.
I don't qualify for them as a student, as Cream Soda can attest to.
Pretty much. I had to loophole my food stamps by applying for them in between semesters, before I registered for classes, so I could honestly answer "no" when it asked if I were enrolled in school
I've had a permanent full time type position now for a few years so when I go fishing to see what better is out there if 'temp' or 'part time' comes up at any time in the process I immediately decline and stop the application process. Definitely empathize however this is the way our economy and society is heading. Workers rights and expectations of everyone being able to get a full time, permanent job with steady, consistent 9-5 M-F hours is dwindling. At least once you graduate you're going into a field where there's one of the few unions still protecting worker interests.
Yeah, and that's the reason I went through a temp agency, for one, I can't seem to get regular employers to give me the time of day without some sort of mediator (and I've been told my resume is perfectly fine), and also, anything at this point is going to be a stop-gap job. I will be taking my internship beginning in January 2016 so that I can graduate on time. This gives an employer just over a year of me, and to be quite honest I know better than to expect anyone to want to waste their time training someone they absolutely know is going to leave. I literally will not be able to work during the internship, except maybe on weekends. Maybe.
And I'll admit that may be part of it. My direct supervisor has approved my hours and knew when I was going to leave, but I was going in super early and also leaving early. There wasn't much work to be done at 5:30 AM, but they were kind enough to let me come in to get my hours, and my job could be covered by the other team members when I wasn't around. However, my direct supervisor isn't in charge, and after the merger came and the people in Dallas started taking over, I had a feeling they weren't going to be okay with my schedule (even though they seemed to be okay with it - I can tell when people are full of shit though, and those people were completely full of shit and fake as fuck but that's another issue entirely). They don't want to keep me with my schedule and they don't want a temp who they know is going to leave after another year, even though I have said multiple times that I was grateful for a job that let me work with such flexibility so that I could put myself through school. Business-wise, it makes sense, but it would have been nice to be told this face-to-face.
And what's really sad is, the people in Dallas are not the best at communicating. I wouldn't be surprised if my direct supervisor doesn't even know that I'm gone. I fully expect a phone call in about an hour when she arrives and I'll have to be the one to break the news to her. Which is perhaps the biggest fucking fail of all.
Honestly, when I consider the shit Dallas has put us through and the amount of frustration dealing with them and their distance micro-management, I'm not terribly sad about losing this job. It was by no means a career I wanted so it's no great loss. I'm gonna do some math today after I get some groceries and see where I stand and whether the VA money will be enough to keep me afloat for the next year. Maybe I'll take a part time job at the mall or something to fill in the gaps (not that I relish the idea of working retail, but shit like that is more suited to college students). I'm not really stressing out about it. Yeah, I've got loan debt and a car payment and all that shit, but one thing I excel at is surviving and being creative financially. The student loan debt isn't going anywhere (unfortunately) and I don't have to pay them while I'm enrolled. There were a few things I'd have liked to have done with that money, but oh well.
I feel like I should be worried but I'm not. I didn't even cry, and that's a first for me. I guess if I do the math and things won't work then that's when panic will set in, but for now, I'm just ... whatever.
Also, I've been looking into being a substitute. I only have a few days where I'm really available, but it could be some valuable experience and put a little extra money in my pocket.
My condolences on the sudden loss of employment. I've been lucky to have a pretty solid career since I was 22ish years old. I try to never take that for granted.
how long far out can a urine sample detect cocaine? potentially going to a client site that requires testing and i'm kinda nervous (its been over a week and I use it 1-2 times a year.)

They have bikes to steal in Bahrain?
God damn my apartment complex has employee turnover rates that would make fucking Walmart cringe. Short version is about 3 weeks ago a waterpipe burst in the apartment above our garage, and they never reported it, so I got to open up my garage to a nice waterfall in my storage closet. Didn't lose much, but principal of it and want the money for it. To go along with that, over 400 dollar rent increase (1350 to 1595 rent, plus now wanting 105 a month for pet rent and 60-100 for for garbage and water which was included in our last rent). Manager told me she would get back to me, and for the last two weeks has been ignoring my calls. Got dispatch when I called her today and was informed they have no person higher and to just keep trying. Tried the other office, got someone who said she would help but said she can't even disclose who the manager is for our complex.
Oh and to give an idea of turnover, when we first moved in 2012, it was privately owned and they sold about 3 months later. And this new company seems to have a strict we don't disclose who you can yell at when you have issues policy.

Make the next call be from an attorney and watch how quickly you get paid.
If I had an attorney friend, i'd be all over it. Sadly it's only a few hundred dollars worth of stuff. More principal then anything else due to the fact I probably could have saved most of it, if not all if the moron reported the water break immediately instead of trying to fix it on his own for at least 2 hours.
I hope you get everything all straightened out.
Nothing pisses me off more than being dicked around, for the sole purpose of being dicked around.
