Speaking of SSDs I had my ssd fail on me this past week. So had to go out and get a new one.
Random win part: still under warranty, thus in 6-8 weeks I'll have my 3rd 240ssd lol.
I upgraded to an SSD about a year ago. I didn't think shit of it... until a month later when I used someone else's computer w/ an HDD. Didn't notice the upgrade, but motherfucker going back I noticed the downgrade. So glad I switched
My god start up time is crazy... I thought about using my storage HDD but then thought about the hell of 6-8 weeks without an sad.
there are openings at the jelly school
Random win I met the woman who did the voices for Stan's older sister and Wendy at my work the other day, random fail I had no idea she did the voices for those characters until later that night. Oh she also does the voices for a shit ton of other characters on South Park as well as voices in many video games.
Transferring files isn't going to "bog it down". I'm not running a toaster. Everything important is on my ssd. Downloads all go to a storage drive, that won't affect performance of anything else. I'm not going to wait until the next day for something, that's dumb. Also, it would only take a few minutes to transfer from one drive to another, at most. The problem is because torrents download data in random order, which is extremely inefficient for hdds with slow seek times. Transferring from one drive to another would be 10x faster (and it was bottlenecking at ~9 MB/s, not terrible slow to begin with).
So watch the movie on your SSD if you want to watch it right away, then transfer it to HDD overnight.
Is this fucking rocket science? You're fighting and arguing suggestions just for the sake of fighting and arguing. Its not like your 250GB SSD is going to fill up in one day, unless you are somehow downloading 150GB of stuff daily.
What am i fighting or arguing? Even with the bottleneck, it was downloading at 9 MB/s. That's already several times faster than most people get. I prefixed it with first world problem because it wasn't really that big of a deal, and i thought it was amusing. My internet is so fast my hdd couldn't keep up.
And again, the actual solution, which fixed the "problem", was changing the cache settings, so it didn't write each block as it finished. Writing massive amounts of data to an ssd, which everyone knows can only be written to a certain number of times before dying, so a 10 gb file would download in 11 minutes instead of 18 would be a bit silly.
Just had a two hour meeting with pain clinic pysch doc and she basically spent the whole time telling me that I'm not doing enough with my life and if I did more, my pain would go away.
I seriously hate every single medical professional in my life.
Whack her with one of those reflex hammers and when she screams in pain tell her she's not doing enough in her life right now and if she did, she wouldn't be in pain.
I know you don't wanna hear shit like that, but it is true nonetheless. Distraction is the best form of pain management.
Well what about the other two days Myrrh!
