Screw you guys.
I know it's selfish and twattish of me. But I preferred to vent over the relative anonymity of the internet rather than to him, because that's the exact image of selfish cunt that I don't want him to see. I am ashamed that I even feel this way. And you guys have all reinforced that I should be. I will give it some time and my disappointment of not seeing Rome (which is one of the cultural and artistic centers of the world) will go away, especially after having googled some images of the area he wants to go to, and doing a bit of research. I think it will be beautiful and I will be happy to get to a tropical location because even Florida gets cold(ish) in the winter. So yeah.
Just keep in mind that even the sex traders don't want me, they want skinny young cute virgins and I am the very definition of none of those things.
I understand the venting/disappointment ; That's being fucking human and we have all felt that about something. I think my issue with it is that you always seem to come back super defensive and have a hard time just admitting that you might be what you don't like about yourself. Being on the defensive is WHY people know they can get a rise out of you. Fuck people troll my pics and comments and I lawl about it to myself , make fun of it and even admit that sometimes I was being a fucking bitch and needed the reality check. I just don't think hiding about how you really feel to your boyfriend is doing you any favors but that's just my opinion. You can still express disappointment without playing the victim card which is what this feels like.
I would hope that just because you aren't going to Rome right now doesn't mean you can't try to plan another time.
FWIW - If someone I knew IRL said this to me my response would be the same. I don't think the internet should be a safety net.
i just couldn't let that kind of opportunity pass me up. as for not telling your BF, i think it would be okay as long as you're cool about the way you do it. i'm sure he's disappointed, too. one trip instead of two, right? so maybe just say it like "well thats a shame, i was really looking forward to that. oh well, maybe next year." and then start getting into the honduras trip details. ask questions about what kind of stuff you can do and try to get excited about it. honestly, i can see why you'd have had your heart set on rome, but honduras is pretty goddamn cool. and you CAN actually swim with manatees; i looked it up just in case the joke backfired.
Also, if what attracts you to Rome is the ancient history, you should totes read about the Maya. They're cool beans. And also live in Honduras. I'm sure there's all sorts of ruins, holy sites, and pyramids you can go check out. Rome doesn't have any pyramids. Plus, from what I understand, they're actually still alive as a culture (though, like our own native americans, they've been mostly assimilated and thoroughly conquered) so you can probably go see some rituals or festivals or something. Also your money probably goes further than it would in Rome.
I think it's pretty normal, if you really wanted to do something, and you thought you were going to, to be disappointed when it turns out you can't. I don't think there's anything wrong with being upset by it. Having an alternative that's still kind of nice doesn't really change anything.
yea, i mean, i'd be bummed too. honduras will be cool though. just remember to be grateful, we can all forget to sometimes. rome will be there another year!
If it makes you feel better Rome is filthy, every monument is covered in graffiti and car exhaust, and the people are rude as heck.
Don't forget to get your shots ahead of time cause getting malaria while on vacation would be a pretty legit first world problem. http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinat.../none/honduras
Aks is the female Myrhh. Super defensive novels.
