Yeah, people can be kind of weird about others not wanting kids, as if that's the sole purpose for existing, and anyone who doesn't agree must be broken.

I dunno, i always used to be really sure i never wanted kids, but i'm not so sure anymore. For sure, even if it were possible for me to have biological children, i would not, because i could never risk passing along my health problems to another person, and honestly, i still mostly feel like i probably will want to adopt either. My girlfriend does eventually want kid(s) though, and i'm not really strongly against it, so maybe one day..

you have a girlfriend? huh. i always thought you were into guys but i guess ive never really seen you say anything either way until now.

i totes get the conflicted feelings about passing on your health problems, though. i'm the same, except that i'm positive i want to be a dad at some point. whether that means adopting, i dunno. would kinda depend on my SO. and whether she exists or not.

Just had this discussion yesterday. Until this is a viable method of child care, I have no interest in any (Proptip: that'll be never)

Shit already sucked as a kid sharing game consoles w/ my grandpa. We had to buy 2 ps2s because we couldn't share. Fuck that noise

This just skips asking for the key during install. Once it's up and running, you can enter your Windows 8 key and it should activate just fine.

ei.cfg doesn't work with an upgrade install, which is what my (legal) version of Windows 8 is.

So today is my Lego group's first day back after the holiday break. I scoot on down to the elementary school... and the doors are locked. mmmkay... text the team's coach, no answer. can't get the attention of the only person i can see inside, a janitor (and a kid but theyre not supposed to let people in so i didnt try). so i stood around for a few minutes, try to call the coach, again no answer, so i went back to my car and chilled for a bit. Finished a game of spider solitaire, thought I saw one of my Lego kids walking home, so I figured either I missed it or it was cancelled, so I went and got some groceries and came home. Soon as I settle in, coach calls me back. turns out he'd gone to the doctor for some hip pain, and had taken a muscle relaxer... and slept through all his alarms. Which worked out okay, because school let out early due to weather so we were canceled anyway.

Also, it's 11 degrees Fahrenheit out, it's snowing pretty heavily, and we've got winds blowing hard enough for it to be very very cold. So even as bundled up as I was (i am boss at layering), exposed places like my face and, while using my phone, hands were fucking freezing. Not at all surprised they canceled. This is the sort of weather people die to.

You are a part of a Lego club at an elementary school? Or you spend time with kids and show them the awesomeness of legos?

Both. Another adult and I run our school's First Lego League intermediate level team. It's particularly challenging for us because it's the first experience the kids have with the Lego robotics system, and neither of us is a teacher. So we're trying to teach them to build and program Lego robots. And there's also a science project element to it, which we've completely neglected. Hard enough getting the kids focused on the Lego.

they added an entire Lego store in the mall near where I grew up. I didn't even walk in because I would've wanted to buy everything

well our real problem is that the lego side is task oriented too. the kids will just build random shit, which is cool, but not really the point of the group. honestly I would have more fun with just supervising while they freebuild, but these kids' parents paid money so i gotta at least try for more than that. so we have to keep them focused on building towards a specific purpose: here, build this robot. here, come build an attachment so the robot can operate this mechanism, etc. the robot has to go through an obstacle course type thing, except the obstacles are more like simple puzzles.

I paid money for my kid to attend a lego robotics class too. I didn't give a fuck what he built as long as he was building something and using the class time to develop his lego skills. He loves legos though and even builds vending machines out of them, so maybe I am just not a typical parent and he is not a typical kid...

well our age grouping is 3rd to 7th grade, and we've only got one 6th grader and hes autistic. the rest of our kids are 3rd 4th and 5th grade, emphasis on 3rd and 4th

also, today's not off to a great start. tried milk and cereal again yesterday, and i think it's still a no-no because i feel sick. tossed and turned all night and finally settled into real sleep about an hour ago... and i'm up again to move my car for snow. can't blame the plow guys but damn i feel like crap.

Ugh, the VA Office at the school (and the VA itself) are really fucking making my life difficult this semester. I have both VA money and student loans coming through so I can cover my living expenses while I'm out of work, but for some reason, the school wants my military transcripts before I can be certified for VA this semester. Transcripts I don't give a shit about or even need to graduate because none of them will be relevant to my field.

Oh but that's not all, doing that pushes my VA time back, so now it's gonna take 4-6 weeks more for processing when I kind of need the VA money that I get every month to, you know, live. I have no idea what I'm going to do while the VA takes their time, because I really don't have a lot of money left and I need to buy textbooks on top of all of that.

Just one semester, I would like everything to go smoothly. Just one.
