I happen to believe that semi drivers are the absolute worst to be anywhere near during bad weather. I always see them going way too fast for the conditions. When I lived up north, I used to drive back and forth from Erie to Pittsburgh regularly, and for those of you who are familiar with the area, you'd know that the northernmost parts of I-79 are fucking treacherous in winter. And yet for some reason, semis would fly down the road at almost 50mph before the plows had even come through sometimes, and you know with the way they draft, I would sometimes have to fight to keep my truck - and not a small truck, either, a 97 Silverado - from losing traction. I was always more fearful of the truck drivers than anyone else.
God, I do not miss that shit in the slightest.
I had a job where I had to regularly interact with truck drivers. 90% of them barely classify as human. You're not wrong that many of them are shit drivers, but going too fast for conditions is relative. The more weight you have, the more traction you have. Physics and stuff.
It still terrifies me. I know they also can't stop nearly as quickly as I can, and if a hazard comes up in front of them, I don't want to be behind them when they jackknife.
The added traction due to weight is much more than counteracted by the added momentum.
Momentum is linear multiplicative, U_k is a ratio of force to normal force ranging between 0 and 1. It only contributes so much. Especially in situations with ice where the U_s is greatly reduced.
Edit: in terms of stopping distance, anyways.
I.E. If a car experienced the same traction increase effect from a given mass to counter out the momentum gain a car with 4 fat fucks would have the same stopping distance from a constant velocity as a car with 1 skinny vegan. We know this absolutely not the case and the added mass contributes MUCH more momentum than can be accounted for by any friction force.
hmm. so i should probably not go as fast.
Yeah basically if you're fat, expect your car to take longer to stop than the hippie granola Volvo behind you.
Did I just learn something from Random Fail? lol
Go to unbox my replacement wii u which was supposed to be brand new and everything except the console is open and both games stolen out of it. I'm fucking pissed off.
My life barely has time for the video games or for the BG anymore.
Well games were actually pretty installed but everything else being open pissed me off. Plus found out when they asked for my ID I never got it back from the last time. Not my day.
Went to the doctor's on Tuesday evening. Had chills and 104.5 fever. Doc says it's not flu, it's a bacterial infection that he can't give me anything for other than tussin for the cough. After spending 90 minutes there I didn't care and just went home. Fever last for four more days. I wake up friday night feeling like the left side of my face is going to explode. Call the doc again and get a last minute Saturday appointment. This time it's my regular doc there. He asks who I saw on Tuesday, I tell him. He calls said doc into office with us and proceeds to ask him "how in the hell did you miss how badly his sinus is infected? Did you not look in his fucking nose?" First doctor never bothered to look.
So now on amoxicillin for apparently a very bad sinus infection. It's been so long that I've taken this stuff I forgot it gives you shits. This last week sucks ass.
Can't smell shit and everything has no taste.
Sinus infections that get into the base of your teeth is the worst. I had a sinus infection last year that was so bad the doctor had me on vicodin with the antibiotics because of the pain. I could hardly chew anything.
More of a fail on a friend. She was seeing Unbroken with her husband who is in the Navy and works on a submarine. During the movie, she asked who won WW2. Thankfully he outed her on facebook so we could all laugh at her.
Lol.
Also I only replied because I'm a sub guy too.
