Eh, I don't believe that asking why she was staying with a guy is victim blaming or even implies anything about absolving him of guilt.
Its natural for people to want to understand the circumstances. People do this with any type of crime/unfortunate event.

When you ask someone a question like that, it comes across really poorly, almost like you need to make sure her reasons were justified before you can blame the rapist. Because I see this kind of shit happen every day, I don't consider it an overreaction. You may have meant nothing by it, but that is exactly the type of question someone will ask when trying to discredit the victim.

Guess I'm still the only that's not willing to go all "fuck that disgusting rapist" without having any more information than the fact that an accusation has been made. If the friends are handling it as an overreaction, that immediately makes me doubt the accusation. I would want to know more information purely because of that fact.

You aren't the only one by any stretch. I'd prefer to know with some level of certainty that someone actually did something before I condemn them for it.

It included this phrase, but was so gigantic and even though this is the random fail thread, I'm not sure posting it would have been in line with the intended purpose of the thread. That said, distilled: I can condemn rape, ask questions without blaming the victim, and not vilify the accused until proven guilty.

In any case, there's probably a bunch of different places in the poopdeck you can go to have this sort of discussion.

I ordered something nearly a month ago and it was supposed to arrive today. A little snow falls and apparently the driver doesn't want to get out of his truck to let me sign for the package.

Last time I saw a plow get stuck the county left it there for several days until they could get equipment there to dig it out. Probably different in the city though.

I hope that you called about a snow plow and your vehicle being stuck to make sure that someone else can come and also get stuck.

I've spent tens of hours over the past two months explaining exactly what is needed to configure a variety of servers to the various groups involved in setting them up. Multiple meetings with the same person describing the same thing. Multiple emails detailing exactly what needs to be done. I get another call today that essentially amounts to "I read nothing that you've written and heard nothing you've said over the past two months. Here is my opinion on things." Thanks, guy, you're an all-star.

As a counter point, How Many Rape Reports Are False? My point wasn't that it was a high number, but that it should be treated like every other accusation. You trust that someone is making the accusation in good faith, but you verify it with an investigation in evidence. You don't get mad because people want proof to claims. That said, I agree that it shouldn't be here, so I chopped my previous post.


Got another email stating that one of our environments was not configured to match all of the others because apparently doing what I ask is too difficult. Had to create an entire new request to go through all the approval chains to get it fixed because "actually follow the original goddamn request" is apparently not a valid once the request has been closed.
