For years I tried to convince myself I needed to embrace my fucked up abusive drugged up family because it was family. I fucking grew up with some bullshit circumstances and eventually severed ties all but socially as far away as possible. As far as I'm concerned the only family I really have us my husband's.

When my mom died two years ago we sold her house in South Carolina. My uncle demanded a share because it was "his inheritance." He only backed off after we told him it's paying for mine and my brother's student loans and my wedding. Not to mention it was left to my father, brother, and myself in her will.

My mom hated my uncle the last few years before she passed.

my mom was in the unfortunate position of having to have her mother disconnected from life support. it was what granny wanted, and even my step grandpa could see she wasn't there anymore. unfortunately my mother's siblings have never been particularly supportive and were not ready to make that decision, so my mom had to pull the plug before they could get there and raise a stink. They resent that, and my step-grandpa's family resented that and some other things as well. The latter got ugly. I don't even know if my step-grandpa is still alive. Probably not; he was old and an alcoholic.

So I dated this guy for a few months about 3 years ago, and he basically just disappeared without a word (deleted Facebook, changed number, etc). I figured he was married or something and I basically wrote him off. No big loss, honestly.

Few months ago I get a Facebook message from him asking me how I am, and I ignored it because literally nothing good can come from talking to an ex, ever, except my ex-husband and only because we have kids together. Then today I notice that someone with a suspiciously similar username follows me on tumblr, and I get a message in my inbox saying "Hey, how r u?"

No, buddy, no. You disappeared without a word three years ago, I'm happily with someone else. First of all, that's being incredibly creepy, and second of all, just no. I would have figured that me ignoring someone's Facebook message would be enough of a fucking hint that I am not interested in rekindling the brief relationship we once had, but obviously not. Go away.
