it may still be possible but if it were up to her they would've just ripped em both out while they were in there. we don't want kids. the pregnancy was accidental - she is/was on BC but either she effed up and missed a day or we got unlucky. lesson learned. either way... ya, she had 300cc of blood in her abdomen. if we waited longer it coulda been very bad.
when I told her they had to take out her fallopian tube when she woke up (super drugged up) her response was "oh boo hoo"
I'm glad she is okay and it's definitely good they caught it for sure. It sounds like she has my way of thinking and in this case I'm grateful that it won't impact your future at all. We don't want them either and have had a few scares similar even on BC too so I feel you.
I hope all goes easy for her recovery.
damn. shits scary. glad they caught it.
Don't even need IVF for that, if she has one tube then she can still get pregnant if they'd like, it will just take longer. I knew a woman who had a similar issue, she ovulated every other month, but she did eventually get pregnant.
what happens to the eggs in the ovary with no tube? do they just sit there waiting? or do they come out and get re-absorbed or something?
They are released then absorbed by the body. Not sure how. That is how it was described to me when my wife went through the same thing.
idk the specifics but i do know the body has mechanisms for absorbing things that end up where they're not supposed to be. this is why bullets and shrapnel and such that stay in the body for too long end up covered in tissue- the body knows it's there and is trying to absorb it, but can't because it's metal/plastic/glass. if it's close enough to the surface, it can be expelled, but i think that's not very common with high velocity junk. For example, when I was little, my Mom was cleaning a glass and it shattered while her hand was inside it. She got glass shards all through her thumb, and they severed some of her nerves. for a long time afterwards, every so often she'd get an irritated patch of skin that would eventually expel a chunk of glass. it was close to the surface so it was expelled. most of it; i think she still has some in there.
interesting that the ovary just keeps chugging. i suppose that's good; hormones and shit.
its still an option sure. I'm pretty certain neither of us want kids though. thanks for the well wishes everyone. we are home now, she's got vicodin, and I'm taking a bit of time off work to help her get back to speed.![]()
I would like to say this to people in general though...go to a doctor if something doesn't feel right. she may not have had to go through this undoubtedly costly hospital visit and surgery if she had acted stronger on initial signs. she went to a walk in clinic but they really did not do enough to address this and here we are now with a 2 week recovery and undoubtedly thousands of dollars to pay off. if caught earlier it could have been more like a simple abortion I believe and her tube may have been fine. not blaming her for this as I would've probably avoided a hospital too - she simply could not get a timely OBGYN appointment so that was the only realistic option to begin with. really sucks cause she made the obgyn appt ASAP but they didn't have shit for 3 weeks out which is all the time it took to really fuck shit up.![]()
I seriously feel you both on this and despise my women's health department so much over it. You think something is wrong but we're going to make you want 3-4 weeks because you obviously don't need to be seem now.. Ugh.. /rage
I've been through similar things including being in the ER for unexplained blood loss from it and told to go to an obgyn just to have to wait an ungodly amount of time.. Then asked why I didn't come sooner.. Are you fucking kidding me.
I'm really bitter because unless they know you are pregnant everything else can wait is their general attitude which is absolute bullshit. Heck I'm supposed to have more biopsies of my cervix /uterus every year due to abnormal cell growth that could turn into cancer and my women's doctor is leaving and I found out through a fucking letter in the mail.
Yet they tried to schedule me for an appointment with her after her leave date. They have fucked me over so much there I feel like I can't trust anyone anymore on that department.
I'm thankful she will be okay given the circumstances but it still frustrates me to no end. Take care both of you.
Well, there's always Planned Parenthood, but I don't think they have the facilities to handle everything. They might have been at least able to do a pregnancy test and maybe an ultrasound though.
i always like to say that if you're gonna get sick, this is the place to do it. With Mayo looming over pretty much the entire state (from what ive heard theyre the single biggest reason you can't buy booze on sundays in MN) our local hospitals have had to step up their game considerably to keep pace. Unless you're a Mayo employee, you generally only go to Mayo for specialists and whatnot. Crohn's is chronic and fairly specialized, and since Mayo has arguably the best GI department in the world, I tend to end up having most of my care done there, but routine shit like my STUPID FUCKING INGROWN TOENAIL is handled by OMC, the county hospital/clinic. Mayo and OMC cooperate seamlessly on shit like that. Super easy to get referrals back and forth, get in for visits in a timely manner, etc.
idk what the point of that is other than to say your hospitals are shitty.
im partially surprised xajii can see where to put his peepee
Ahh, that sucks. The one I go to is pretty good, but they're not all created equal.
