We were married overlooking emerald bay at Tahoe and I have a rainbow in my wedding pics, couldn't ask for more. It helps I'm agnostic and my husband atheist for location.

There's no wrong way about it but for us it was a light bulb moment lol. I've attended weddings all over the spectrum and firmly believe that as long as it's within your means, hopefully it's just once so go for it. My father in law gave us 1k before the wedding that we actually ended up being forced to use for our sick kitty a week later and paid for the restaurant dinner for everyone which ran about 1800 for 20 people.

That's all the help we had though and didn't ask for it. Since my family is all estranged /deceased we didn't expect anything anyway. I felt guilty back then but now realize it's just the awesome man my father in law is and am lucky to have. I don't wish wedding planning on anyone though since even being small we had some snafu moments lol.

That's the price WITH DIY stuff. We've made our own Save the Dates, Invitations, friend is doing the photography (she has a Masters in photography and does this kinda stuff for a living), have connections with the suppliers for 1-800-Flowers and a local florist, we're making our own cement candle holders and other table furnishings, the band is my friend's family band, etc. etc.

The most expensive part is the venue. We're having it at the NY Botanical Gardens which required a donation in addition to the fee for the space, and the pricing for their exclusive caterer. That and we have to get lighting for the outdoor space.

It's just like any other Masters degree. Hers would be in the Arts focusing on Photography. From what I understand from your posts, you would have degrees in Science focusing on Physics just as I have degrees in Science focusing on Engineering.

Although you and I are mortal enemies, her degree is just like any other. I.e. she paid a shit load of money to go to school for it and they gave her a piece of paper after completing whatever coursework they gave her. Do I understand what that coursework would be? Not a fucking clue. I was trying to figure that out after the fiancee said she had a Masters as well.

Wedding photography in the NYC area is 4-10k+ for a single event depending on what the bride and groom want. Maybe it's not a salaried job, but if you can get 1 per month at 5k you're not doing terribly. As long as you already have the equipment (which someone who went to school for photography would) you have very little overhead other than your own time at the event and time for editing. Other than that you make a DVD and say "here are your photos."

EDIT: Not to mention if you have some people that pay cash you can keep some of your income off the records and away from the IRS, but I would never condone that...

If you can get those contracts rolling in steadily then you're good.

Yeah. There are obviously a lot of weddings going on the the NYC area, and definitely some really ridiculously expensive ones, but there are also a lot of photographers. Have to get on a few venues' suggested vendor lists to keep that going I'd guess.

They also can make a lot of money doing professional looking shoots for models, actors, people designing clothing, etc.
I know a couple people who do photography in NYC for a good living.

so, a twitch streamer who I watch regularly (pretty famous one at that), broke up with his girlfriend of 9 years over the internet and left her for a girl he just met at PAX. Coincidentally that girl also had a longtime boyfriend who she broke up with to be with this streamer. Pretty funny when you see the girl's instagram account, one day she posted pics with her old BF all cuddly, the next day with her brand new BF. What douches, they deserve each other.

That's almost as bad as the creator of Rollplay (tabletop roleplaying games show on twitch) kicking the fan favorite off the show because he called a girl's character (who coincidentally he (the creator) dated (the player) a while back) a whiny bitch, cancelling the show that night. Cut forward to both of them dropping their feelings all over the public atmosphere and then having the embarrassment of having to do a public apology to make up at the start of the next episode because they both overreacted and had divided the pretty sizable community behind the show.

That was like a year ago, show is still growing and everything is happy now. Don't overreact when you're a public figure.

The actual incident was never put on his youtube channel which is kind of shitty because that was the night they were starting a new campaign due to a player wipe, so they introduced all the characters and the general setting before the drama happened. It's probably still in his twitch vods somewhere but those are locked behind being a subscriber.

All that being said, most of the RollPlay shows are worth watching if you're into tabletop gaming. Specifically Dark Heresy and Swan Song. Fuckin' genius.

I don't know where else to post this, to be honest, but has anyone else read that Salvage Bans 2.0 thread and seriously wondered who the fuck would be dumb enough to exploit Salvage again after the first fucking time people were banned for it? You'd think people would learn.

I mean yes, it's a different glitch this time but come on.

So for the past 3 months my roommate had not paid rent, and due to this in march we got a "pay or quit" notice on our door because he had not paid march(The money comes out of my moms account and we both xfer money and put it in there). Well my roommate didnt do that so my mom had been paying 1580 for 3 months in a row. He thought it would slide by and go unnoticed, but holy fucking shit I'm still so angry that he would do that. This is legit the worst thing a single person has done to me. especially because I helped this person out countless times and he fuckin backstabs me. Lease is up in 5 months....so have to deal until then.
