I was basically alluding to the fact that I often have a bit of difficulty being taken seriously as a woman, and that's why I have to be firm rather than approach in a friendly manner. The problem is I'm often dismissed before I even start.

I can see that being an issue if you are dealing with a typical "man" place like an auto place or hardware store. I'm sure it is fairly similar to the looks I got when I would go to a fabric store way back in high school, the assumption that I have no idea what I'm talking about.

I know I typically think differently from everyone around me, but if someone has difficulty trying to be taken seriously. Then I likely won't take them seriously no matter what they try to act like.

People are entirely too serious too often, and as a result my entire interaction with someone can become a parody of their existence. Point being is that people won't understand that it is not their demeanor, but their disposition that determines real social outcomes. Hence, I am just an ass to people. It is much simpler.

Part of it is I also don't look my age. I'm 34 but I look to be in my lower-mid 20s, and people think that they can walk all over me because I'm a young, stupid woman. Most people don't believe me when I tell them my age. Which is also super annoying, though most women probably would kill to look very young. So I've found that I just have to be a bit more firm - that's the best word, honestly - rather than friendly and smiley.

lol, Yeah...you might need mental help. We all do. We played a painfully difficult MMO for many years and every one of us developed Stockholm Syndrome.

I had to work very hard to be taken seriously when I was 25. People could not wrap their heads around a 25-year-old being a responsible adult with a family. That went away when I hit about 28 though.

Maybe it has more to do with the age you act instead of the age you look? I know I certainly acted the fool because I tried so hard to be relevant and taken seriously.

People use age as a marker far more seriously than it need be. It is an assumptive crutch that really shapes our society in the most unfortunate of ways, and yet innocuously at that.

So since Monday afternoon I've eaten nothing because I can't keep anything down. I've lost 12 pounds in a little less than 2 days. Sadly it's not food poisoning like I hoped. My mother and a friend of mine are both sick now as well.
