At work, the A/C unit that cools the room housing about a dozen -80°C chest freezers broke down. It's a sauna in that room and I have work to do in there. It's 35°C (95°F) as opposed to the usual 24°C (75°F).

Think I had a dream someone stranger made me fuck them, again or something. I don't remember at all. To be fair I almost never remember my dreams so thinking I remember something is a start.
Was late for work by an hour, but it is not like I had to be here anytime other than when I wanted to come in. Was awoken by a text from someone on XI saying "I might be moving to Jersey". Well, we all make mistakes I suppose.
It is okay, I keep my temperature in Celcius and my distance measurements in inches, feet, miles. Don't convert for those plebs!
The unit of measure for the home to work distance is minutes, silly. Not miles or meters.
Nah, I go by miles because otherwise I have to give a range of time it takes. Based on the 15 traffic lights I can get stopped at, and the chances I am stuck behind someone so I can't go the 40 in a 25 most people do or the 70+ in a 50 half of the people do.
Somedays ~15 minutes others over 20. If it snows? Forget about it.
Just got a tornado alert on my phone for a warning that ended ... 10 minutes ago.
Thanks.
Just got my next weeks work schedule. Not only do I get scheduled to work all 3 weekend days (rest of the managers got 0-1 of those days), there is also a mandatory meeting on Saturday morning. So work until 2am friday, meeting at 8am saturday, then back to work at 4pm.
I am so fucking tempted to just quit on the 29th out of spite (this plus tons of other little stuff over the past few months) so they suddenly have to scramble when Avengers comes out.
Depending on how shitty the company is, fire you. When I worked at Fry's, the employee "appreciation" meeting/breakfast was mandatory. That typically meant showing up at 6am, having that end at 8:30 am and depending on how lucky you are, then start work immediately, or drive home and then come back later in the day.
As an hourly worker, it is a 4-step write up process (unlimited step 1's, single step 2, single step 3, fired at 4th. They rescind down a step if nothing for 6 months). Skipping the meeting would be a no call/no show which is an automatic 2nd step in the process.
Lately, they love to give us write-ups any time somebody complains to corporate. Since I don't have anything else lined up, that is the only reason I wouldn't actually quit (though tempting). Don't want to risk my job if next month somebody calls corporate because I refused to give them 100 bucks and a blowjob after I caught them sneaking into the theatre.
Short story involving spider:
Spoiler: show
Random fail, house a small bit away from me blew up. Yes, blew up. One person dead, tragic of course. Stuck at brother's place because we got kicked out while they check for gas leaks.
Holy shit. Do you have a news article? Not because I don't believe you, but because I have this kind of weird need to see pics.
So I am not sure what is worse. Those women who happen to be bad drivers or the young guys in BMWs.
In the course of, what, ~30 minutes I saw.
Actually,
*clears throat*
<On this episode of driving in Jersey>
Pull out of work and in two minutes I am in traffic with some cop blocking a lane with a road flare out. This delayed my brief nap between work and class by ~7 minutes. There was also no wreck, and no obstruction so no clue what that was.
Then as I reach route 9 some STUPID bitch has been pulled over by a cop and decides that the on ramp is a great place to just stop her car and it is nearly blocked with the cop behind her with his lights on. That just begs for a car wreck. Who the fuck decides to stop at the end of the on ramp because the red and blue lights go off? FFS.
Then we have the same nonsense all the time they have been trying to slowly do what I imagine is a lazy union construction job of simply putting in a traffic light at a four way about 4-5 cars in length before the traffic light at US 9 for close to a year now. So people do what they naturally do and clog both the straight and right lane (mine so I can finish leaving 9) so that when they try to get up to that intersection at 9 they make a mess blocking the box.
So I then get home and drop my bag, take my glasses off, throw some water on my face, keep my shoes on, and go lay sideways on the bed for 20 minutes. I then wake up and throw put half a sandwhich I had ready in my mouth to walk out the door in a bug out pace of 2 minutes.
Pulling out of the development on to 79 can be a fucking nightmare, and it always happens to make me later than I already am for taking a nap. Anyway I rip onto it, and begin my it is still rush hour traffic dash to campus for this douche bags Linux network administrator class. About 5 minutes in I notice this new shiny yellow car I couldn't quite figure out the make of making what seems to be a hasty and impatient turn into what can possibly be a collision.
He makes it rapidly, and I figure "typical impatient NJ driver", but before I can finish that thought.
NO, he is making an illegal U-turn now going the same direction I am driving. With three cars distance between us which are now slamming on their brakes and swerving to the shoulder because he couldn't wait to make this illegal U-turn. So he guns it with his douchey cold air intake he thinks matters as I am bewildered at "how can anyone be such a fucking moron! What a cunt!". I roll down my window (well, they are power windows, but w/e) and lower the music as he is making a turn and I am ready to flip the bird while yelling out the window. As I get a cars length behind him he hits the gas on his turn and is gone as I am about to do this.
I am now rather disappointed, but the drive goes on. No no, it is not over! So, ~2 minutes after this I am really into Led Zeplin - Babe I'm Gonna Leave You (shocker, it isn't metal), and a cop pulls out behind me. I look and I am only going ~52 in a 45 which is normal for this stretch here, but they don't care. So he gets close and then drops back so I figure "yeah make my day" and soon enough I see an unmarked car had pulled someone over ~1 minute up the road. I know that I am fine now, but the trip goes on!
So ~7 minutes down the road and I am in the home stretch and late, but who cares about being late to this? So there is a very short merge that exists for little reason right at the last light. I am going 52 in a 40 as is the person in front of me, and this guy who was ~5-6 cars in length behind us decides now he just wants to floor it and get ahead of us for no reason. As the three of us cross the bend in the road I notice someone flashing their brights. It is day time so you can't really notice much, but I know that means someone is warning us the fuzz is around the corner and to watch it. Unfortunately the jerk knew too (many don't for some reason) and we slowed. I then flashed my brights after passing his hiding spot, and thus ends this edition of driving in Jersey.
See the pattern here with the police too? Why fight crime when you can ticket drivers everywhere all day long constantly? There have been nights where I see five separate people pulled over in less than ten minutes. While I have been pulled over in Utah and Nebraska I have never been pulled over in Jersey somehow.
This is probably considered a good day of driving. It can be so terrible sometimes because people just can't fucking drive!
