Pittsburgh is never prepared for this kind of shit, which makes zero sense to me. Even though Pitt rarely gets a whole hell of a lot of snow, when it does, the entire city is all fucked up. It happens often enough to have some sort of something in place, and it's only about an hour south of the major snow belt. Now granted I don't know my way around Pittsburgh all that well anymore but from what I recall, getting around town is enough of a bitch without having to deal with weather.

Also fuck going anywhere near tunnels in that kind of shit, hell to the no. I'm glad I don't live up in that shit anymore.

Really though, Pittsburgh is pretty bad at winter. Just in general. Bad at winter. I mean, it's fucking December. Was snow really that unpredictable?

I don't think I've ever seen them actually be prepared for a storm.

Yeah, I had to run to the bank this afternoon to take out money to pay for my car repairs. Seems like my area had its pants down regarding road maintenance, too, as I certainly wish I'd taken our 4WD truck over our C300. Thing is it had been slushing a good 6 hours or more before I made the drive, so it's not like they knew it wasn't happening. Additionally, due to last year's mild winter, our local garages were supposed to have a lot of salt already in stock due to not using it last year. Oh well, a little slip sliding, sporadic braking, and driving 20 under for me. I wouldn't say I'm the best winter driver, but it's not foreign to me. Some other people, however, holy shit watch out.

We have gotten 90" of snow in the last 10 days in the Cascades at pass level. There has been a "chains required" notice on all reader boards going up highway 26 since the storms started rolling through. People still manage to go full retard and try to drive their 1990 honda civic up the pass and block traffic for hours every single day. I went up to Government camp last Saturday and saw 4 people stuck on the side of the road where they slid into the plow bank. WHAT THE FUCK?

Then, with all the snow on the passes comes the heavy rain in the valley. We live in Oregon.....it fucking rains 9-10 months out of the year...how can you not drive in the rain? Every time we get heavy rain it's like half the people on the road are 16 and learning to drive again.

Sounds fun lol. We're still getting hammered today with call volume. Yesterday my shift alone did 1650 service calls and fielded over 2500 incoming phone calls. We're on pace for another 1500 service calls today.

This is the exact same thing that happens in Reno. Every year without fail the first snow fall in town results in 100+ crashes in a single night. It snows every single year how do people who live here not know how to drive in the snow by now?

I like the snow that falls when I'm viewing my control panel, but I wish that if I left it for a while it would start to accumulate. Wonder how high the snow would get while I'm at work.

Not really a fail I suppose, I just don't have anywhere else to really put that.
