Apparently some old WW2 era ordinance was found on a beach in St. Petersburg today, bomb squad called in to make sure it is safe/detonate if not. The fail part comes in already where I've seen the crazies on FB try to blame this on Muslims or Obama or liberals or whatever, lol. I'm seriously contemplating a friends list purge before election season if this shit continues.

I'm sure a lot of you have experienced this at some point but, I live in a condo complex that is pretty nice. I have very few complaints - floor is quiet, neighbors are nice, etc. One problem I do have is the garbage that the entire complex shares. It's tucked away in the corner of a giant parking lot so the smell doesn't get to the complex itself, which is nice. The problem is the rate at which non-residents come and throw their shit away like it's no one's business, despite it being illegal. Like wtf - a lot of people just come and throw gigantic pieces of furniture, sofas, and crap like that. What's even worse is that a lot of people, being the lazy fucks they are, don't actually go in there and put their bag of garbage into the bin like a CIVILIZED PERSON. No, what do they do? Throw their fucking bag over the wall, which ends up missing 150% of the time, so the bag just rips and garbage spills everywhere onto floor. I've talked to a few of them and they usually just say 'OK, OK' and drive away - I know they don't give a shit about it. Luckily - the condo association has a company come clean up around the area 2 times a week, so it's not as bad as it could be. Also, recycling/garbage trucks come pretty often too.

The problem is - how do you actually stop this. Moving the bins somewhere else public can't access without some keycard or something might work, or having some sort of security guard or w/e ward them off whenever they try and come throw their shit away, but that's expensive. I'm trying my hardest to not think about it, and I really shouldn't let it bother me as much as it does, but wtf.

People will find other ways to be lazy with their trash. I've seen people driving with their trash on top of the trunk of their car with (I'd assume) the intent to stop at the dumpster and drop it, then they "forget" and next thing you know, the bag has fallen off the trunk of their car and their trash is everywhere. It's fucking disgusting.

My apartment building has two trash chutes that were horribly infested with roaches. About 4 years ago they bug bombed the everloving shit out of them and sealed them up. Now it's a forbidden graveyard of cockroach corpses and mutants strong enough to survive the apocalypse and feast on their less sturdy comrades.

Consequently, we no longer have functioning trash chutes. Some people responded to this by taking their trash bags down to the laundry room (ground floor, probably two dozen steps from the dumpster) and leaving their huge stinky trashbags there next to a laundry room trash can intended for lint and such. One guy even started leaving his trash at the bottom of the stairwell, but he got caught and evicted. I just don't fucking get it. If you're going to carry your trash down to the first floor, why not finish the job and take it outside to the dumpster?

When I lived at home, we had a gate installed with a key card so only residents could toss it out. It was also a pretty middle classed area so everyone generally had enough sense to not be shitty.

we have a similar setup here to what bori describes. definitely not middle class (MAYBE very low end middle class), but people aren't shitty. never had a problem. i never see anyone outside the complex use our dumpsters, but if they do they're just as tidy as anyone else.


get a big ol rottweiler or some other dog with a bad reputation. Train it to bark on command. Go confront people while you just happen to be taking him for a walk. Give command while walking up.

Just make sure youre careful about the command. People are pretty callous about putting down "aggressive" dogs.

Our previous complex, half the time people wouldn't even toss the garbage into the chute, just leave it next to it. No surprise though being that people would piss in the elevator, let their dogs piss in the elevator, and people would set off the fire alarms by smoking weed in the hallways and the apartment manager refused to give the fire department the code to turn that shit off, so we'd have to deal with an echoing alarm for 45-60 minutes at least 1-2 times a month.

See, the thing is that my apartment building has none of those other problems. The neighbors are quiet. The elevator never smells like piss. I have no evidence people even smoke cigarettes anywhere in the building. There appears to just be a small subset of tenants that really hate walking outside to throw away their trash.

Our previous complex (we really don't have that at our current place which is much older) advertised itself as a high end community, but was actually 50% section 8 and police were there about 2-3 times a week due to drug use or people breaking into cars in the parking garage. When your co-workers tell you it's an over priced shit hole and they actually considered spending money to put a substation across the street due to the quantity of calls they got, you know you got problems.

I've smoked a lot of weed indoors/near smoke detectors and have never set them off. Are you sure it's from the weed and not faulty alarms? It shouldn't set it off unless they're purposely funneling huge bong rips straight into the receptor.

Going on day three of really bad intestinal cramps and gut wrenching diarrhea. This is way worse than my normal IBS and medications do nothing. I feel like I am prepping for a colonoscopy right now.

regarding shitty people in a condo complex, its usually the ones that rent their place from the actual owners that tend to not give a fuck. They're just renting the spot, who gives a shit about the complex.
