Random Fail: First World Problems

Power window on my mom's car failed, stuck half open, can't even force it up with a manual assist.
Can't afford to fix it, and dunno how to tape and cover the window properly.

The actuator can be replaced rather cheap in parts only, it's the labor that will kill on that. Try to ask around of anyone is familiar, it will save a ton.

Sorry forgot to say if it's the actual motor that can be worse so it depends..

Wife used plumber's drain cleaner(like Drano on fucking bath salts) on the kitchen sink last night and didn't tell me. She left it in overnight because it's odorless. She didn't know that it eats through metal pipes if left in too long. Just spent two hours replacing the old ass metal piping that was eaten away with pvc pipe. At some point I really should pitch my own sitcom.

My fail:

Had a job interview this past Wednesday. I thought it went well, but haven't heard from them since, so I guess that is out the door.

Have another job interview on Tuesday. Location and grade levels would be perfect, but I can tell this charter school will probably stress me the fuck out. They do a combo English/History class. You are basically teaching history while putting literature/writing elements into your lessons. Sounds great if you forget that charter schools are under more pressure than public schools to do well on the state tests. Which means shoving two core curriculum classes into one. It also probably means they lack funding and are looking for ways to cut corners, and probably pay terribly. Beggars can't be choosers and I have to fake it until I make it, but I doubt I would ever find a charter school I would stay at. Soon as I could get a job at a private school, I am out the door.

I'm wondering the Brill thing too, every post makes his wife/inlaws sound like inbred mentally challenged handicapables. Was that politically correct enough?

Anyway, Ksan, are you going to call/contact the first place back around Mon-Wed? I would if I were you just to either get final closure/show them you're interested enough to follow up. Good luckr egardless!

Don't. I've talked with numerous HR professionals, and more than one has told me that annoys them to no end. One even mentioned she would trash an application whenever someone does that. A much sneakier way is if you have the interviewer's email, just give them a quick email thanking them for taking time out of their busy schedule to meet with them, that you enjoyed learning about their team, and to have them feel free to contact you if anything more is needed. Much less intrusive and shows interest.

And don't give up hope on the first job. Many, many times it's taken weeks to hear back. Even up to a month. I know it's a little different with your field and the time of year, but give them at least a full week.

I am not sure how they would know. I wasn't going to mention the other school to them. That would be stupid. Just thought to wait until after Tuesday to see if I should bother.

Yeah. My college professor was a 30 year HR vet, she repeatedly told me no. Various others in HR have told me the same. It's part of the reason you'll see some companies with "NO WALK-INS" on their doors when they're hiring. They just get so many people calling and bugging them, you don't want to be another one to bug the shit out of them. Doing the follow up email I mentioned above is well received I've seen.
