Jersey is ok but it's spoiled me. Furthest I have to drive for anywhere or anything is like 15 minutes.
Gas is cheap as fuck too, I'd say it's the only redeeming quality of that shit state.
It gets between me and my friend's beach house in Ocean City, MD. Thank god I just take the train, driving there is fucking horrific.
FUCK everything about Ohio. It's a fucking shit hole I'm happy to never venture into again.
And how does someone have their engagement ring stolen? It's fucking horrible but I think the only time it's ever left my hand in over 5 years was during our ceremony and when I'm dyeing my hair. I know many women who don't shower with it on but I go crazy when it's out of my sight just for cleaning.
So, the insurance I bought at the store called "Life time Insurance" only covers cleanings, or the diamond incase its lost or stolen. Not the whole ring. When I asked why they don't just cover the diamond and I buy a new band they said "We can't do that".
Turned out they had 1 ring left that was the same as the first one but I had to pay near full price for it. Really pissed off about that.
But hey, atleast they gave me the "Life Time Insurance" on the ring for free. Boy, did they cut me a break there. /sarcasm
Shoulda went to blue nile.
In VA now, gotta do the fucking speed limit now and the rest of the damn way.
This is pretty true especially when it comes to ANY warranty. I can't tell you how many calls I get weekly about how hey just purchased a new car and assumed tires are covered automatically. Nope sorry , you didn't buy the additional coverage for tires , sucks to be you. Yes I understand you've only had it 4 days and don't like the fact that it's not covered. You should have asked questions.
Blue Nile is pretty awesome. We got ours from Shane Co. and I'm insanely happy with them though.
Not only that, but renters/homeowners insurance would've covered it up until a certain amount. If the item is worth more than the policy will cover, you then "schedule" the item and show worth via appraisal and the item is covered.
Sucks the ring was stolen, but hopefully it can be a tough lesson.
This is why you don't use silly store insurance for something so important. You know you can get insurance on individual items through your homeowners or renters insurance? It usually only costs a couple bucks extra per 6 month period too. That is what I did for my wife's engagement ring. When I bought it I called my dad and he had AllState add it to my renters insurance policy as an itemized item.
When you get an insurance policy too make sure that it covers the cost of a replacement and not the "current value" of the old item. That way you get money for an equivalent replacement instead of the money based on depreciated value.
My brother did the same thing. His ring was really expensive ($15-17k) so he insured it through his house insurance plan as an asset I think. He said it was fairly easy to do and the valuation is honest for most companies if you make sure they do retail price coverage as zoober said.
Age old internet adage applies here, "Read the fucking manual"
