I hate summer, it's the only time we get ants and always in the bathroom. Woke up at 530am to a swarm on the counter top.
Spent the next hour and a half scrubbing shit down in an anxiety stricken state.

At least it's not Florida bugs, I had enough of that growing up.

I wonder how often people are able to cut through the bullshit and see the honest reviews. We get a lot of negative reviews for our theatre because people are pissed off when we catch them trying to rip us off. Charge them the adult price when they use the automated kiosk to buy a child ticket. Bad review. Refuse to sell an R rated ticket to somebody without ID. Bad review. Don't accept competitors free passes. Bad review. I've had tons of people threaten to leave a bad review if I refuse to give them exactly what they want.

I typically take Yelp with a grain of salt unless it's nothing but negatives. I just glance over the last few months, and if I notice a common theme (poor service, slow food coming out, etc etc) then we will probably duck it. One of our favorite chain restaurants averages something like 2.5-3 stars in part due to the area, everyone is a fucking food critic and since it's not Michelin star quality food at outback prices, it obviously sucks.

I normally use the rating to see what's worth clicking on. Usually don't check out anything below 3 stars, but anything 3+ I'll read some of the reviews to see what the complaints were.

I like to look at the reviews for a place I've gone to after the fact and validate that my feelings of them being awful were justified.

Though I could avoid that entire process if I'd look at the reviews beforehand, so I belong in this thread.

I look at the reviews for similar businesses nearby and see who ends up on the top of the stack. For instance, there's almost always going to be a negative review or two for dentists because people hate the dentist, so that doesn't phase me. Dentist red flags would be accusations of filling imaginary cavities, botching root canals, and double charging for stuff.

Depending which service I'm looking at, I pay more attention to positive vs. negative reviews. If I'm doing something in order to have a good experience (eg restaurant), I'll read some positive reviews and skim the negative reviews. If I'm doing something in order to not have a bad experience (eg dentist), I'll read the negative reviews and pretty much ignore the positive reviews.

I pay the most attention to negative reviews with specific complaints and scale based on the clarity of writing (grammar, vocab, etc.)

I've been playing Link to the Past over the last couple days on emulator. Last save was Hera's Tower. Hit pause after clearing Swamp Dungeon to go make lunch before work, came back and the emulator had crashed. Ugh.

So now that I'm living within a 30 mile radius of a legitimate city, I figured I'd take this awesome opportunity to get back into my first true love of sport which is boxing. Long story short, every single "boxing" gym nearby is like:

"hey wanna do bjj instead!?" No, I don't want to roll around with sweaty ass dudes. No disrespect I just don't.

"hey we got crossfit, not boxing anymore!" No thanks. I prefer not blowing out any of my joints on a stupid WOD.

"hey we got muay thai which is kinda like boxing, our senior students will spar against you to help expedite your training!" Kthxbye. Trained enough boxing in my younger years to know all too well how some gyms use stupid noobs as punching bags for their prospects.

What the fuck happened? DC was once considered one of the mecca boxing training locations along with NJ, NY, PA, and Chicago. Found a gym I'm going to tomorrow to try their basic Thai boxing class, since they were the only ones who didn't say anything stupid and are providing a free three class trial.

shitty work emails are one thing; working for people that are entitled and try to demand shit get done on their own timeline is a completely different monster. while i'm personally an asshole and love tellin muthafuckas no, the ways they try to circumvent the process is infuriating, and when i catch them, their shit typically takes the long trip to the bottom of my work pile. fuck yall.

My wife deals with this at work and it's frustrating to hear how she gets taken advantage of simply because she is very fast at finishing all of her work. She's a Project Manager and her job is pretty much chasing clients around. I've told her to be more assertive at her job but she's afraid of any sort of retaliation from her peers, so she just takes it.

I had to get a tetanus booster yesterday and my arm is fucking killing me today. Every time I rolled over my arm would protest and I basically slept like shit. :/

Roll into work and see a note on my desk saying the refrigerated unit I work in is out of commission and tagged out. Find another work area in the interim. Walk into the lab, my apparatus station is still in the tagged out unit. Commence cleaning out the unit, start gagging on the festering dankness of humid musk that settled in the unit overnight with the motor still on blowing hot air into an enclosed space. I'm only an hour into my shift and I want to vomit all over the place.

Lost my wallet while bicycling to work. Backtracked my route immediately, couldn't find anything, called at work and asked if my wallet's there, nothing, so I reported all my cards as lost and requested new ones. Not a big deal because fortunately, I rarely carry cash with me and I'll have most cards back within two weeks, but still annoying. Need a new wallet and a new ID will be €50 as well; unless, of course, a kind soul finds it and turns it in.

A kind soul found it and turned it in. They gave it to my father after looking up my name in the phone book. Everything intact, except for one thing; I'm about 90% sure that there was no cash inside because I never carry cash with me. When they returned it, a €5 bill was inside, which leaves me wondering if they put it in there to avoid being accused of theft on account of an empty wallet being rather suspicious. My father gave them €20 for their troubles, but I really want to know if I simply forgot about the €5 or if they put it in there.

My guess would be you just forgot about it. It's hard to really carry no cash; you always end up needing a few bucks for parking or a vending machine or something. I typically try to carry between 5-10 bucks. Small enough that it's not really a huge deal if I did lose it, but enough to pay for, say, a cheap meal.

I don't know, I literally do not carry cash ever. I have not carried a single bill since I returned from Europe, and that's mainly because a lot of places don't like to take your card. Vending machines take credit/debit now, too.

Our older dog wasn't feeling well and was panting and pacing the house last night. Kept me up I ended up getting out of bed at 2:30am to let her out into the yard. She was still panting and acting funny this morning and just as I was about to let her out she had diarrhea all over the rug in front of the door. Yay!

I work in the ghetto. No cash ever. The few times I do have cash and I'm at work it's always end up being a large amount. Which makes me highly uncomfortable until I get home lol.
