Doesn't it make sense that he puts more attention to something that he feels more 'accessible'?

Oh it absolutely does. I was very surprised that the museum had two train tables set up right smack dab in the middle of the museum. Granted it's a fucking trolley museum so it's not like it's super entertaining but still. He did lose his shit when we actually rode the trolley though.

If you ever go to California, take him to the train museum in old Sacramento. He will lose his shit seeing all the old toy trains.

They look like walmart or other store brand type shoe. Something that kids would be made fun of for wearing except it is endorsed by a celeb so now it's cool.

    (he's 62 and she is 57)

I don't want to deal with that shit yet

As uncomfortable as that conversation is to have, it is much better to have it while your parents are still alive and of sound mind & body. You don't want to deal with it when they pass and you are in a state of grief, with potentially family members arguing over what should be done. Primarily, it will keep the people at the funeral home from taking advantage of you in your state of bereavement.

As Anoat said, it's better this way. So many people are uncomfortable to talk about death, especially at a young age, but it's a fact of life we're all going to die and we should be prepared. Especially with family. I didn't sell life insurance long, but after learning about it I have to say everyone should have something in place and not some chincy $10,000 policy. It's bad enough when someone dies, especially a spouse. But afterwards, when they come to realize they have to provide for themselves after being used to two incomes with no back up plan. And it could've been prevented by having a good policy in place.

If your parents do not have a life policy in place already, I'd highly recommend getting something. The monthly cost is peanuts compared to the cost of burial. I type this with your best interest in mind. I really hope this helps.

Dude trust me it's for the better. My dad got diagnosed with terminal lung cancer at 60 and was gone by 62. He nothing planned before he was diagnosed. The amount of stress on him to make sure my mom was provided for was immense. For fuck's sake he was turned down for disability three times. The less that is left up to chance the better. This way you know what they want and how they expect you to honor their wishes.

I know it's hard to think about but it really is hard enough losing a parent for most people let alone going through all the questions and deciding things when you are trying to grieve.

I lost my mom 10 years ago and as the youngest at 26 at the time, I was the only one that even knew what the hell was going on. I was the most stable because my idiot sisters who were nearly two decades older were always fucking shit up. As difficult as it was to deal with directly, I'm grateful my mom didn't hold back on her wishes so I know at least I was able to do that much.

I don't think it makes things easier but it does let some stress of "what now" dissipate.
