Random Fail: First World Problems

I got lucky and saw it right after it opened. Ticket prices skyrocketed after that.

I saw it in January of 2012. Bought the tickets in May-ish? of 2011 for that date. Was originally going to be a birthday present for the fiancee (gf at the time), but figured it'd be torture to give her tickets whatever months in advance so gave them to her for Christmas instead.

Think they were about 180 each. Were Orchestra, right side of the stage, about 6 rows back I think? Seats were towards the center aisle.

Also, no go on the Broadway tickets, Tyven.

Walked into work today and instantly was meet with a internal affairs complaint.

Complaint is because I "refused to help a citizen, and didn't acknowledge her request for police assistance".

She wanted police to remove a group of kids playing in a public park at 4 in the afternoon because they were being too loud.

Sold a game on Amazon over a month ago. Once I load up the tracking number I ignore it completely. I get a message from dude today wanting to know where the game is. In Spanish. After using Babelfish to decipher what he was asking I look at the tracking number. Which he apparently failed to do. Game was out for delivery on 8/26 but for whatever reason was taken back to the post office where it has been sitting for almost a month. Had dude simply looked at the tracking number like most normal human beings he would have caught it.

The thing that cracked me up the most was dude's name. Nelson Nicolas Vidal de Leon. I don't know how I missed it before. I wish my name was that awesome

The next person I issue a new laptop to who asks if their desktop will migrate to the new laptop is going to have said laptop smashed over their head. I've lost track of how many times i've told them, back your shit up before coming in.....

I've tried starting a homegroup so I can share my own files, both from the desktop and the laptop, but I can never see the homegroup I create on the other computer. I've tried rebooting (on both sides) and nothing shows up, rebooting the network, still nothing. Google was unhelpful, unsurprisingly. Any thoughts?

Also, I'm not home so I can't try any solutions now but this just popped into my head since you made this post.

Use Google Drive. Setting up your own network is annoying and unnecessary.

True. I basically just want a way to access everything on my laptop (which is my old computer) from my desktop without having to transfer it over. So far, I've just been e-mailing myself files when I need them.

I guess either way, I'm gonna have to do that though.

You don't need to setup a homegroup for that. These are win7 instructions, but should be similar for win8. Just right click on the folder on the laptop that you want to access and select "Share with > Specific People". Select the account name you want to have access. Find IPv4 address of the laptop by typing "ipconfig" into a command prompt. On the desktop, open a "run" dialogue box by typing WIN+R on keyboard. In that box type \\192.168.1.2 or whatever the laptop IPv4 address was. This should prompt you to login using the credentials selected on the laptop and then bring up a list of shared folders on the laptop.

Don't trust anyone that says to share home network content over a cloud. They're fucking ignorant. There is no such thing as absolute security in computers, and the absolute last thing you should be doing is entrusting your files to somebody else's hard drive. Bardicrune has the better way, but that might be a little excessive for most people. Most people can just share their folders with their network. It's a few clicks and you're done, no need for setting up users, figuring out IPs (which likely change on a daily basis if your router is using DHCP, which effectively all do by default), etc.

If you're not that interested in security, when it asks for whom you want to share with, just type "Everyone" into the box and click add. This uses the special group in windows that allows every account access. However, by default this is read only, if you want to be able to change files or create new ones, you will need to change "Everyone" in the list from Read to Read/Write permissions. When accessing it from your desktop, it still may ask you to log into the pc, but no matter what you type you will be allowed access.
