So I called out sick today (not the fail). Smart decision as I was coming down with a cold, and I have a ton of sewing for Halloween costumes to do tomorrow. Problem with keeping baby things for a really long time like that is that often, there's new research done on why <insert baby thing here> is unsafe now, and you can't do hand-me-downs. This was the deal with the crib my family wanted to give me for my kids, but the slats were too wide and it has been proven to be a strangulation hazard for babies.

You might argue that that's only a ploy to get people purchasing new things (and on some level, you're probably right) but yeah.

Ksandra, I say keep it, despite the fact that you don't need it anymore and that you may not have the space. I sold a lot of my baby things at a yard sale but the few things I did keep, I look on with fondness. There's nothing wrong with hanging onto mementos.

when i was a baby my mom got this bitchin crib from sears. so swank. when i grew out of it she gave it to my sister, who used it for my nephews. she hung on to it after they grew out of it, cos it's a really nice crib. Now that my niece and oldest nephew have babies of their own (whom i am visiting this weekend) she hauled it out, but it turns out drop-sided cribs are illegal now. So my step-brother put an L-bracket on it to stop the side from dropping, because fuck throwing that shit away.

worst case, you just put a potted plant in it and embarrass your kids with it.
