We did the county clerk office too and were glad. Zero stress, money better spent (for our needs), and we got what we wanted.

Grats though Boylee. I'm sure you wouldn't do this if you didn't think it was worth it for you and the soon to be wifey.

I'd rather use the money for a sick honeymoon trip or a down payment on a house together, but what do I know.

In your defense, I know people who spent like 30k+. Boggles my fucking mind.
    NJ.

We shopped around for venues forever, and 13k was one of the best prices we got for 100 person 5 1/2 hour reception. Shits fucking crazy. I was allllllllll about doing small destination wedding shit and saving a ton. My biggest peeve is, it's about 120-125 a head. I am not paying 125$ for some asshole to eat dinner, so the people coming better be worth it. Luckily it seems like it will be, she's got some rich extended family and friends traveling in for it, hope they put out.

It's mind boggling that a DJ can cost 2k+ as well, but whatever. We wanted to stay under 15k, saw that wasn't possible, so we changed it to 20k and made it happen.

We feel, and my mom feels lol, no 4 hours is worth 20k. Shits gone in an instant. But that's why we bought a house first and are doing wedding second. So at least we made the correct decision with that one.

My wife and I somewhat went the house route. We were pretty bad financially when we got married so when we had dollars we used them for our house. Our next is to actually have a honeymoon to the Philippines. We're still trying to finish school.

Skip the DJ, anyone born in the last 30 years with an iPod and decent speakers can DJ a wedding.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

Yeah we got a one month subscription to a music site, and created a playlist the night before. Left the comp there for anyone to select songs.

As to venues, we got one at this brand new senior community center. A lot of them have a banquet hall for renting to help pay for their bingo n' such. Was really nice, and I think it cost us 1.5k. Did a cruise for the honeymoon which was 1.7k. Got a roasted pig for the reception and then had boston market cater the extras. It really isn't hard to do a nice wedding on the cheap.

They're a whole entertainment company. DJ plus extra guy to motivate the crowd and photo booth, lighting etc.

Photo Booth shit is separate most of the time.

    DJ's are fucking dicklickers.

Do all the speeches at the rehearsal dinner and just start the ceremony with dances, drop dinner, dancing.

The only requirement for a solid wedding is to not fuck the guestlist up and to have an open bar.

They are hosing you, man. Spend ~$100 or less on crap disposable cameras and leave them on the tables at the reception, let people take their own photos. You don't want to skimp on a professional photographer for actual wedding/family photos, but a photo booth for guests is a total waste. For lighting, spend $100-150 on lamps at Home Depot and set them up yourself.

No way the photo booth gets dropped and it's the same price anywhere. It's such a huge hit at weddings.

I have to side with Boyiee on this. One of our best friends for her wedding had the photo booth and I don't think there was any point where there was no line.

Is this an NJ thing? I've been to a shitton of weddings, many overdone expensive ones, and I've never seen a photobooth at one.

Disposable cameras is what we did, and it was awesome. You can get ones with wedding designs on them from Michael's.

I was at 9 weddings over early spring and the summer. All but one had a serious photo booth setup with props everything. The other one was the worst wedding of the season.

    Just saying.

I can't even remember how much we spend on our wedding. I think it was under 10k even after we included my wife's dress. We didn't actually have to pay out of pocket for our stuff. My wife had some funds set aside for it from when her father passed.

We very much did a one stop kind of wedding for ourselves. Our meal was a buffet. With 100 people covered, I think it was just under 5k. Then the DJ might have been like $500. We had a weird situation with our Photographer where the woman we had originally hired had to step down, so someone else she recommended stepped in. The new photographer was good, she did our wedding album at no extra charge because she felt bad our original photographer bailed. She also stayed much longer than she was expected to on the wedding night itself.

Man, this is bringing back some memories of those words that all men dream of hearing on their wedding nights: "Let's get this over with, I'm tired". I still tease my wife about that.

We were around 10k and I'm not sure how much of it we actually paid for (vs. the parents). I know we tried to take as much as they'd let us, but my wife handled the negotiations.

Honeymoon was in Colorado for us because I couldn't take more than 3 days off work. Maybe cost 2k total?

At a friend's wedding the DJ sucked. Learned weeks afterwards that the DJ/emcee was supposed to play a waltz rendition of the Mario Underwater theme for the first dance. Instead the guy chose Sinatra and boy were they angry about that. Bride 1 star reviewed him with an angry comment attached.

A band would be great cause then I could do something romantic like sing or something. Idk how/if I can do that with DJ. We got the highest rated/best company in the state though, probably didn't help out wallets.

I think what it all boils down to is New Jersey. Shits overpriced as fuck. No venue was less than 10k for buffet and that was with the shittiest options.

The grilled cheese and bacon stations are going to kick ass though.

Our DJ shouldn't be able to mess up, we have the option to hand pick every single song in order if we want.

lol, who changes the first dance song?

Our DJ had a good sense of humor. He played this for us (it was jokingly requested) while we were queuing before walking down the aisle:
