I dunno how it works in the USA, but here alot of company put job offers for 6 months or 1 year to replace people on maternity.

That's because in countries that aren't the US, women get more than 6 weeks of maternity leave. No one is going to get and train an employee (even a temp) for 6 weeks.

Well my personal instinct is telling me she'll take the time and either:
a. be pregnant upon her return
b. decide not to return

Three people was already not enough to do all the game porting we've been doing, let alone the four other markets we have lined up for the next 6 months. The lack of company pay increases this year doesn't help the mood either.

Sorry, I normally try not to work vent anywhere, it's nice to get it out of my system though.

And yeah, I can relate to wanting to leave after pregnancy. I was working while pregnant with my youngest son, and it was a place that had seasonal layoffs. I'd had him about 5 weeks when I got called in and asked if I wanted to return, and I just wasn't ready to leave the baby with someone else yet, so I decided to pass on the opportunity. It would have been a pretty good pay raise, too, but I just couldn't. Maybe if there had been some way to bring him to work with me. I guess I was lucky back then because I was living with my mom, if I'd had bills to pay I would have had to have taken it and I would have felt like I missed out on such important parts of my son's early life.
