I love the winter outside NYC. Dirty, icy snow mounds and giant slushy puddles are terrible. Pristine white yards, quiet, dimly lit streets as snow is falling? Awesome.
Very upset we can't do our annual ski trip to Killington this year. No money or vacation days because wedding. On the plus side, since I'm the one that organizes it every year, our friends won't be going either so we won't feel jealous.
Exactly... though I'd more call it cool right now. Like 40-50s here so perfect shorts and shirt weather.
Plus the last time I flew back to Washington in the winter my flight first got delayed leaving then the lay over in salt lake got extended then only vehicles allowed to be at SeaTac were some taxis but not the ones you could schedule ahead of time so waiting outside in -10 for 2 hours for a taxi that would only take me as far as the Seattle ferry. Finally get to my house in Bremerton 26 hours after my first flight was supposed to leave in Kansas city to see a tree limb had frozen, fallen off and knocked down a powerline. No power for another 12 hours and it turns out gas central heating doesn't work great if the electric fan to push the air isn't running. Yay for hot water still though. But yeah left me with bad memories of travelling to cold places in winter
So I've been having ISP problems for a while now, they've sent techs out but so far nothing they have done has fixed the issue. I'd drop connection for a few minutes, seemingly at random. Sometimes I'd reset the modem, other times I'd just wait it out (depends on my level of patience at the current moment). Noticed it with lag spikes and sometimes disconnects in WoW, getting kicked off of games in WiiU, and both computers. I'm super fucking annoyed by it at this point and I just keep calling them, and I called them last night and finally got them to send out another tech because I'm still having these problems.
So since I know the tech is coming tomorrow, I decided that I'd keep track of every time (while I'm home) that my internet goes down. Here's where it gets weird. The times I logged are: 0648, 0818, 1018, 1319, 1752, 1820, 1850, 1852, 1920, 1950, 2020, 2049, 2119, and 2122. (A few of those I thought were done because they'd come back then gone right back down again). So basically there's a pattern here: On or around :20 or :50, my internet goes down, sometimes for several minutes, and then comes back up.
Anyone ever hear of this happening before? I'm obviously going to pass this info to the tech when he comes out tomorrow, but like, I can almost set my watch by this shit at this point. Weird that it took me deciding to write this down to notice a pattern, and wondering what it means, but maybe this means that finally these assholes at Brighthouse can fix my fucking shit because I'm tired of it.
