I went to the dentist this morning for a diagnostic checkup. First time I've been anywhere near a dentist in 11 years. I knew my teeth were not in great shape, but I didn't expect over $11k worth of bad shape. No dental insurance. Fuck. My. Life.

So the options are to try to take out a loan or to see if I can find an affordable dental plan to get all this work done. But Jesus. I wasn't expecting it to be that much.

1. My lights were working. I marked it off on my checklist. That company had a 'how's my driving' sticker on the back and getting written up for a bad light is really bad. And the cops in the area know you're driving a company vehicle so they will pull your ass over REAL quick. Funny enough, even though the entire truck was scrapped they both told the police officers that it was not lit. They managed to light ALL the lights on the truck despite it being completely scrapped.

2. Pretty sure they were lying. The girlfriend was screaming more colorful language at me and there were people shoving her away from me because she looked like she wanted to kill me.

3. Completely. I-35 at 5:00 becomes a complete dead stop. You might as well park your vehicle and walk if you want to get somewhere faster.

4. The hit was pretty interesting. There was over 85 witness reports when I finally got to see the documentation on it. Apparently he swurved to avoid me, but when he realized he was going to plow into that large line of vehicles he swung back around and hit me roughly around where the passenger side bed of the truck was. This caused what people said to be an odd "slide" where we both slid towards the wall at a diagonal except I smashed into it with the driver's bed side then with the force of his truck, roll into it. This is probably where I saw the rotors fly past my face. Then once I hit the wall with enough force I rolled back the way his truck was. His Nissan Titan however, regained control and people moved out of his way for him to safely land in the ditch. Meanwhile I became a giant smashed ball on the road.

5. I didn't have to press charges. Since I was "on the clock" it became a huge business stink that they went out of their way to get every penny from their insurance. My company paid for all my medical immediately and went after his insurance. Whatever they tried to contest, there were 85 VERY detailed reports (mine was not included) and the guy was given 10 charges. They also could identify by the tire tracks that he was going 20 over the speed limit (I was pretty impressed by this report).

I basically shut down the road for the day, I left a blood smear and vehicle wreckage that covered what the reports said 80 feet. I saw pictures of his Nissan Titan later. That thing looks pristine. But I gotta tell you. His insurance must be jacked.

His insurance didn't even fight paying me back immediately. Well... the first day I had a real dickwad of an agent who was challenging everything I was saying. I finally got fed up with him and got his supervisor who actually LOOKED at the police report and there was a huge tune change. Next day I got the sweetest agent in the world. A bit dorky but I love dorky people.

6. You know that Scumbag meme? That's what the guy looked like. He even had the crooked hat on. The girl was white and pasty (ick) with hair that was poofy as cotton candy. She reminded me of a clown with how much makeup she had on. Apparently they were from Oklahoma and were headed back. They were pretty upset that the whole thing had to be handled in Texas saying that it was purposefully hindering their ability to fight for their justice on me and my company.

Dallas - Ft. W area. I used to deliver parts between McKinney, Denton, Garland, Duncanville, Plano, Irving, Dallas and other cities.

At the time I didn't care what she called me. I remember her spitting several words that if I wasn't dying on the road I'd have beat the shit out of her for. But at that point I was just wanting immediate pain relief. Plus plenty of people were getting pissed at them for me.

Reading back on the report most people simply said that they were very vocal and disagreeable but I believe the guy who wrapped me up took the time to write down several phrases he heard. Apparently the response I gave to everything anyone said to me was 'I'm sorry. I'm sorry... help me...' So they tried to say I admitted guilt to causing the accident but that got thrown out immediately.

I probably caused so many people grief because of it. When I saw pictures later of myself I'm sure people thought I was going to die and my crying for help was making them freak out worse.

And I mean, apparently my medical bills were pennies compared to what my company went after for damages to that dinky truck for "Revenue Lost" or whatever.

SO! My company handled all the... medical aspects of it.

My personal belongings and anything outside of the realm of my actual medical costs were on me to chase down people for. Firemen, policemen aren't included in that medical aspect. I was supposed to go after his insurance for those things (which I did) and I had thought they paid them (which they didn't) and either the fire department had trouble locating me or someone's been stealing my mail for 2 years this bill has not been paid.

Interestingly, the helicopter ride where they lifted me is not included in this medical cost.

You realize they charge 30,000 flat rate for picking you up and then incredible costs per the distance you have to travel? I sweat so many bullets reading that bill when I wasn't sure if the insurance company was going to pay me because of the whole lawsuit going on.


I could try and fight this 300$ bill, I mean I really could. But it is also my dumbass fault for not making sure everyone got paid. I made sure several places did and then I kinda assumed they paid the firemen because I hadn't heard another word for them. D:
