So, our latest pup came with a genetic predisposition to a form of microscopic skin mite. The result has basically been her itching, licking, and chewing herself bald in places. We've been working with the vet for a couple weeks now on treatments, the first not really cutting it so we're upping the ante to stronger stuff. Contact the breeder we got her from and she basically freaks out on my mom, who then goes to the woman we got our first dog from to see if she knows anything about it since it isn't contagious. Long and short of it is this first woman was not supposed to be breeding/selling dogs with this defect and breeder of our first will likely be going to the appropriate officials to get the second's credentials revoked. Not that I really think it'll stop this woman from selling pups on the sly.
In the interim, I'm just feeling bad for our dog since she's looking all mottled and occasionally her itchy fits do result in some blood being drawn. Also going to be a pain explaining it to people as I'm out walking her once the weather improves, since the default assumption is we're probably a bunch of dirty hobos. Fortunately, it is supposed to clear up eventually, but if the meds don't do their thing as intended, she might wind up a bit worse before then.
Spoiler: show
Sounds A LOT(identical) to what I had dealt with in my puppy about 8 years ago. The vet called it red mange, it took almost a year on meds and about $2-3k over the course of the year to get it cleaned up, dog hated the vet by the time he was 1, going in monthly for skin scrapings and other not so fun tests. Well worth it in the end though, he came out of it fine and everything cleared up for him. Sucks to go through, but I hope everything works out for you and him!
Finally got signed off to do work training but instead of local the classes I need are in San Fransisco. Since I can't drive and where it's at isn't central to public transit ( would be almost 2 hours each way from home) may need to get a hotel room in the city. Blargh
Had to deal with a lockdown at school because a teenager/young adult (not our student) was shot across the street from us. Principal said he was shot in the leg, but since we live in such a shitty area, the news don't even bother reporting it.
Was pretty scary, but thankfully everyone is ok.
Using some chicken tonight with my boneless skinless chicken... always still has a little skin on to trim off but this time there was a lot. But worst of all I found 2 bones I had to pull out while prepping it
In real news my cities council voted unanimously to reunify the courthouse square area of downtown completely against he will of as far as I can tell basically everyone. Lot of surveys showing overwhelming support against it everyone I talked to has hated the idea etc. Some of council members them saying this is the most important thing they've ever done. What this means is an already horrible traffic area will get worse as a few blocks of the main street thru there will now be the center of this new square. Also the brick road was kind of neet. They are also taking down a bunch of various art pieces and fountains and such that are there as well as some old redwoods with last I saw no real plans on what to put in there.
This is supposedly only going to cost 10 mil but all the plans show it costing more like 17 or more. Meanwhile my city is ranked number 3 in worst roads of mid sized urban areas in the country while at the same time spending the 5th most on roads per motorist in the country. But clearly a purely cosmetic change that will actually make things worse getting rid of one of the few decent stretches of road we have in the middle of downtown is a priority <.<
It's funny you should bring that up, because I had a dream about those drills that we have to do. Apparently it's state law that we do fire, tornado, and lockdown drills once a month. I guess the dream comes from the anxiety that the drills might happen when my cooperating teacher isn't in the room (a couple weeks after I start teaching) and I won't know what to do exactly. We had fire drills when I was a kid, but we never had to do this lockdown shit. Sad times we live in.
Wasn't feeling well the last 3 days. Woke up with a doctor's appointment and time taken off of work.
I feel completely fine now.

GF wants to move in together when her lease with her roommate is up in a few months (this part is a win), problem is she keeps her room such a mess and it drives me up the wall. She knows this, and says she will clean it but never even attempts. Currently she has a vanity in her room that we keep toothbrushes and other stuff such as my razor, listerine, etc at so it stays out of the actual bathroom. Now I clean this vanity myself probably every other week and without fail next time I am over, it's a complete mess. I love her and all,but dear god living together is going to drive my neat freakness into overdrive.
I will tell you this now before you actually move in together, but if she isn't organized on her own, she is not going to be organized living with you. I mean, good luck and all, but I've been there. Both with it being myself and the other person.
You will be exhausted from cleaning up after her consistently and be prepared to possibly deal with feelings of resentment. At least you seem to know what you're getting into.
I had to deal with the same nonsense when the wifey moved in. I consider myself lucky because I was ultimately able to condition her to clean her messes up, especially all her god damn hair all over the place. No idea how extreme your GF is, but it's possible to change that bad habit when you constantly remind them and practically embarrass them about it.
That moment when you realize the user's PC is not turning on because they are hitting the dvd eject button instead of the power button.
This is the bullshit i deal with every day.
