I'm confused as to when two people became a group.
$12 for an appetizer $25 for an entree, a couple of glasses of wine for 11/each. That's without dessert. And higher quality restaurants give you exactly that, quality, not quantity. It's meant to allow room for multiple courses.
Wife made a huge tray of lasagna for me last night. My favorite food. Get super excited to have some at lunch. Proceed to fumble taking it out of the fridge, and since I didn't put it in tubberware like she told me to, the pyrex tray shatters into a million pieces leaving nothing salvageable.
That sucks. I hate wasting food, but I hate wasting food that's about to go in my stomach even more.
Couldn't fucking agree more on this.
I know someone touched on this before but let's reiterate that just because someone works and in some cases actually CHOOSES to work in an industry service related does not give the pass for being a cheap fuck or an asshat.
Do you enjoy having your garbage picked up ? Coffee made at Starbucks for you ?
The list goes on but ffs just because someone does those what some consider "bad life choice" jobs or careers it isn't always the case.
California is rare exception that servers do get minimum wage ( can't recall if it's state or county based) and some have even tried a flat top/ service fee. However in most places try pulling a double shift on $2.25/HR and getting shafted on tips just because your customers are cheap. You live on tips and for anyone who has never had to do that shit or any service related position to make ends meet has no idea how difficult it can be.
While I'm glad to know there's a good following of people here that aren't asshats the few exceptions I want to throw you into a server rotation on a weekend and see how long you last.
This is what I do as well. Coffee or bar I never tip more than a dollar or two. But a legit restaurant where you're treated well? Anywhere from 15-25%. I've never been to a real "fine dining restaurant" so I wouldn't know what that service is like. We mostly go to asian restaurants where it's 1-3 people working the entire front and truly working hard. They deserve that tip. Now if someone is slouching big time or rude? I forget what the exact amount is but there was an amount to tip that servers would know it meant they sucked. Possibly $1.01 or something.
To each their own. We dropped over $400 for a meal in Vegas we still talk about 2 years later and it was just me and my husband. On average when we vacation we do at least one meal that's $250-$300 before tip.
I can easily spend $50 on myself at my favorite independent spots not including alcohol or dessert. I've found I'd rather eat out less at better places than throw my money at the typical chain.
This may come as a shock, but that's not a lot to spend on a decent meal. We're not even remotely close to fine dining numbers. Your head may very well explode if you find out some of those prices.
On the first world problems, apparently the gift card that my mother sent to us for Valentine's Day may have gotten lost in the mail. Hopefully it turns up tomorrow, but I'm starting to lose my optimism.
The most expensive place we go to is The Keg. If I have a drink and we get desserts the bill is usually $75-$100. There are two places that usually sit around $50-$60, but our usually haunts are in the $40 range.
It's state law though some areas (San fran for example) go even higher. Also same goes for Washington. Both states also pay decently higher than national min wage iirc both are around $10 with some cities going decently higher. Also the states I've lived 92% of my life... Fancy that.
Should also note it's Federal law that employers have to cover the difference in tips between the Minimum Wages for Tipped Employees and the federal minimum wage so you are never legally making $2.13/hr that is the minimum cash wage. Some even go higher. In fact the majority of states/territories require Basic Combined Cash & Tip Minimum Wage Rate to be higher than the federal minimum wage
I've also worked 120 hour weeks for what would've been decently below minimum wage before. Of course military doesn't fall under FLSA and I knew that signing up but I still I've done the whole working a ton for jack.
What if you are really hungry? Like it's a little after midnight because FNM ran late, been up all day and haven't eaten since dinner the night before, just found out you are going to have to walk several miles back to barracks so going to need that energy to outrun the alligator that chases you and still get up and do a 12 hour shift that starts in 7 hours. Oh and Applebee's is the only place still open for walk in nearby. I mean it ended up only being like $35 before tip but this was 2006-2007 so might be almost $50 now
So youre ordering two meals?
Fuck TATA Communications and fuck Comcast Customer support.

Comcast (rightfully) says its not their issue, but I asked them if they could reach out to TATA. Of fucking course they said no. And so I spent hours getting the run around and finally spoke to someone at the NOC for TATA. They asked me to send an e-mail. I sent the above and a ton more information showing that they needed to fix their shit. What happens next?
And then I followed up letting them know, of course, that I am not a TATA customer but their shit is still making my internet experience awful (that packet loss was affecting my traffic going to BG, 4chan, Discord and other sites as well)"Hello Team,
Please confirm If you are a direct customer of TATA. If yes, please report an issue from your organizational email Id."
And then...
FUCK!"Hello insertmyrealnamehere,
Please raise this concern with your upstream provider ."
Every Saturday in RIP we'd go to IHOP and eat 50$ of breakfast, immediately go to whatever that buffet is and get a buffet meal, immediately go to Red Robin, and finally after that we'd go to Cold Stone. Exit 10 columbus 5eva.
This shit fucking sucks
