Put beer on ice, roll
Alternatively, iced salt water gets way colder. Make a freezing cold brine, chills beer quick.
Technically what is happening is a localized phase transition where the solid phase and liquid phase of water is shifted towards the liquid because wherever the salt is the freezing point is roughly -xC and because of that, melting takes more energy away from its surroundings and to maintain the equilibrium the not salted ice has to give up energy yada yada until it all melts down at some temperature >xC but less than 0C when all NaCl and H20 are mixed. Then it goes back to 0C.
you could just go to the store and then you have cold beer
So been in Philly the last few days. Pats and Genos overrated. Go to Delassandros.
Jim's is the truth.
I enjoyed math so much took calc 3 in college for fun, even though I had all my math credits already knocked out. Sadly, first day of class, professor said the first 6 weeks we were going to be dealing with vectors in 3 dimensions. If I had one weakness in math and physics, it was dealing with vectors. It just never clicked with me the way everything else always had. At least I was able to drop the class with a full refund since it was only day one.
Didn't rank as high as I thought I would have on civil service test, but it's because I am out of town and therefore on County list so technically my ranking is decent. It was for a fire job I didn't really want and half assed the test anyway. Decided to go at last minute, almost was too late to take it, didn't look up or prepare for any of the material. Just took it cause I never saw one before.
In the end its a good thing cause it keeps me in school for a real job.
I went over my mobile data in feb
My son just messaged me that he got suspended from school. But if he's telling me the truth, all he did was tell a girl to go to hell, which I would have probably only given a detention for. So either my son is not telling me the whole story, or schools in Mexico are a lot harsher with their punishments. Either way, fuck my life.
I used to get suspended all the time and told my mom all kinds of minimized nonsense.
the mother of the two ladies who photographed my wedding (and i've known since high school) just lost her home, pets and all possessions in a fire today. Shit fucking sucks
I am semi frustrated at work, so inc long rant. Keep in mind, I am extremely extremely thankful to have the job, and this isn't quitting-worthy. Just venting mostly.
1. Our administration is just a complete mess. The Principal has very very good intentions, but has no concept on how to talk to people. To the point that many teachers are left in tears (me once months ago), and many are already looking for other jobs. I don't know how she handles things in the office, but she clearly doesn't know how to divvy out work. We have three secretaries for a school of ~300 students. This is, quite frankly, unheard of. Even at the private school I was at had one secretary for the same amount of kids, and she had more to do than these three combined. Despite that, the principal has been giving so many random things to the guidance counselor to do. She (the counselor) often stays until like 6:00 at night trying to do all the work given. She barely even has time to do the tasks that a guidance counselor is supposed to do because she has to do all the other stuff. When she tried to complain, the principal's response was, "Oh, are you not a team player?" This is despite the secretaries leaving by 3:30 and relaxing half the day. While this doesn't directly effect me, I like the guidance counselor. I think she's really good at her job when she's allowed to do it. Not only that, we can't even be friends because when we started talking a lot about doing things for the school, the principal thought we were secretly planning things against her (wtf?) and basically told the guidance counselor to stop wasting time talking to teachers too much. Needless to say, I know the guidance counselor is looking for a new school, and two other teachers who for sure won't be there next year (probably more). This comes as no surprise as the school had 10 new teachers this year from teachers leaving last year. There are only seven teachers there that are actually veteran teachers to the school.
This bothers me, because I like a lot of the teachers, and I feel sad that I can see the writing on the wall. If I stay at this school, it'll be hard to get things accomplished as they constantly rotate teachers in.
More to the point, I am having a hard time accepting that I don't have time to do any more for the school. I took on trying to design some clubs at the school, and I've started an anime club. They also put me in charge of the yearbook club (used to be a class, but the art teacher was one of the ones who left). Even though I am neither the English department head, or the 9th grade team leader, I feel like I am leading both in a lot of ways. The English head is very very sweet and has been at the school for 8 years, but she is also is overworked with extra stuff the principal wants her to do. The whole school had to work on a major report for when LAUSD officials come in to see if our school can remain open. Even though the English head was my group leader, I ended up taking charge by typing and showing everyone how to use drive so we could work on it all at once.
The 9th grade lead is also very sweet, but does absolutely zero when it comes to leading. I am constantly sending out info to help with organization which is strongly lacking.
In a nutshell, I am doing their jobs and not going to get paid for it, and doubt they'd ever hand those positions over to me.
On top of that, there is so much I see the school needs, but I cannot find the time to get them into action. And I can't even seem to get other teachers motivated to try and improve things. We have a history teacher who was supposed to do the newspaper and we got five papers last semester, and none this semester. And yet the principal doesn't hand that over to someone else? I can't do it. This is what happens. No one volunteers, and the principal doesn't try to enforce it. So programs are disappearing more and more. I would love to work on the paper, but I can't. I am doing so much, and I see so many teachers doing nothing outside of their classes. I wish I could make them understand just teaching your subject isn't enough for these kids. We have to do more. They won't have clubs if we don't do more. As is, only the new art teacher has been focusing on finding field trips for her kids. No one else takes their kids anywhere except for visits to a college campus. When can I find the time to organize a trip to the zoo? Why can't some of the other teachers who don't do anything extra organize it? How can I get them to? Why should I be the one to get them to do it? Ugh. Sorry. /rant
Bad management will kill the motivation of even the best employees. It's exactly why I left my last job after getting transferred to kickstart my department at a regional office.
I hear that. I forgot to add something else to my rant which is basically do I stay or do I go? I know I won't want to leave until I got a private school jobs, and the recruiters I work with keep sending me notifications for job openings. But now I don't even know if I should. I want to because of less bad behavior issues, and so I can send my kids there for free. But I have sorta that laziness factor in that I know I could ride this job easily for the rest of my life simply because I do more than the rest. Private schools also expect this and more out of you, and I don't even have the time to write the cover letters. IDK It's a struggle.
