Random Fail: First World Problems

So they replaced my smoke detectors the other day and today I found out they are probably going to be a problem. Like they started going off when I was just warming up some oil on a clean griddle. So now they are having fun sitting in my bathroom till they play nice.

On the plus side finally got to try some of those Kodiak protein pancakes I got on sale at Costco. Taste wise much better than I expected for something cheap and supposedly healthy. Cooking was a pain/messy though since they weren't really firm enough to flip when it was time to flip them

Wow US teachers' pay and conditions seem pretty shaky. And no unions in some types of school? Even the most cutthroat private or charteresque schools in the UK have representation from at least one if not all three of the major teaching unions.

Also it's really hard to fire a teacher that quickly in this country. Unless there's serious evidence of gross misconduct then it's a case of it taking at least a semester to gather sufficient evidence of incapability. Then the teacher's fired but usually at the end of term with an agreed reference from the school (union solicitors are usually involved in drawing it up). It takes very special circumstances for a teacher to be let go mid-way through a term, usually including concerns over the safety of the students.

C'mon America, sort it out.

In other shitty news, my girlfriend's boss has her over a barrel. Either she agrees to withdraw her application for a raise, and keeps getting paid her fairly decent salary, or she keeps pushing for the raise and as soon as she gets it she gets put on capability proceedings which will make her working life hell and impact any future reference. Needless to say, the union's involved.

I had a fiasco last night ordering in and needless to say had to cancel the previous order then place a second order at a new place just to get food at all at 11:30pm.

I wish my regular Chinese food places would stop deciding randomly to not deliver also ugh.

To add to the soda thing : I hate water , I always have and I've heard every argument about it so save your breath. I'm a notorious sugar addict but now only drink diet because I actually like the taste. In before its horrible for you , anything can be fucking horrible for you lol.

Two fails:

I have to stop playing League of Legends. I 100% know it's addiction that only fuels the negative emotions. I don't even think I enjoy it, at least not to the point where it's a leisure activity.

I can exercise discipline in what I eat, how much I exercise, thinking about the ex, biting nails - You know all the little shits I have moderation issues with but I've slowly been mastering: Actual, surprising ability to take new paths mentally and physically.

With, League though, I've kept it as sort of an outlet for all the crap. But it's become then it's not worth it, and I really wanna start cutting it out of my life. I've held off for admittedly too long, but I realize I need to start. Won't lie, posting here has definitely helped me with things like this in the past and that's why it's all written out. Besides, I got promises to keep and while I'm sure I'll find other addictions to wade through, cutting it out will help complete other projects.

Not only that but /whine I have SOOO many games guys. I always talk about how I'm TOTALLY gonna play 'em but never do. Pretty sure like 90% of you have this fwp.

Backstory: Live with a female couple. They are a bit younger than me. They remind me of me when I was younger. Messier, hoarding shit, uncaring, lazier, etc. I present to you what I am calling: How to Not Live, by The Lesbians


The drawer when I first moved in had a broken plastic hanging piece and was always out and the drawer itself was sloughing downwards. The wooden piece in the front was hanging off, too. I replaced the back piece so it'll follow and hold onto the rail (so it could be pushed in, I got sick of it being in the way) and wrapped tape all around the outside to hold that front board in place.

One of them works at Starbucks. I've come home to cups in the driveway often. (Or just left right inside on the washer/dryer.) Most of these things are minor annoyances but this definitely ticks me off. That's the cat carrier from the cat-story, too. :/

Not so much them, but the dog doesn't like the dog food. He's been getting into the trash and we have to keep all the doors closed. Got up on my desk once to eat some chocolate. Scavenges for food lately, it's sad. Can't leave anything out- Was in more chocolate that they left on the counter a couple nights ago. Licks their plates after they leave them in the living room (they probably know that tho.) They have not changed the dog food yet. (It was a huge bag and I think they're trying to run through it.)

Ast, it was hard as shit to quit soda. Honestly, quitting soda (at least through the addiction portion of it, I have one a week, sometimes none) was one of the hardest things I've done in my life. But if I did it, you can. It's really just discipline and a slow wean following by maybe fruit juice replacements and then quit those for a little coffee a day and/or tea/water additions.

So my ongoing fail is one of my exes has started trying to be friends with me again for awhile now. And I've eventually said sure and we talk some and hung out a couple of times but it's awkward on it's own. But now it's getting even more so since apparently the gf she has now is hella insecure and I guess chased off most of her friends and now her gf basically saying my ex gunna leave her for me. So there is some big drama that wants to suck me into it...

Very true , I admit my response didn't come off the best. Anyway yeah I use Crystal light packets , MIO and drink chai , green, mint and black tea at work religiously. I'm sure the fact that water literally didn't exist in our house growing up as a beverage outside of mix with koolaid had an impact . It was always full sugar soda from as long as I can remember so I fully admit it's an addiction.

I was doing so well cutting it out before and even started acquiring a taste for water in small doses but I'm an emotional eater and with several things lately I've let them take control more than I'd care to admit.

I'm hoping after Monday this long drawn out process will be over , I'll at least have answers and things will be over officially. I just need to find my personal motivation again.

One way to drink more is to instead of drinking it because you feel you have to or because you are thirsty or whatever but instead make it an unconscious habit at which point you wont hardly realize you are even drinking let alone what.

I have this weird fidgety hand thing so I ended up just replacing random hand fidgets and checking my watch twice a minute with taking a sip with a bottle I always kept handy. Would end up drinking insane amounts and wouldn't really realize it until I was out or had to pee real bad

It's the nerdiest goddamn thing to do, but working through your backlog, setting goals has helped me out quite a lot. I basically told myself I would finish one previously unfinished game by monday night each week and have kept it up since last November. Granted, I mostly play 3-10 hour short things, but it helps me stop spending money on new shit and never touching old stuff I've meant to get around to for ages. It also helps force you out of the "I'm just going to sink the next 6 hours into League/14 because it's comfortable and easier than starting something new" loop, which is what I had the most trouble with.

Try it. It's not hard. There's nothing to even quit here.
