Take the offer if the people within that you know can't do anything for you, put in less effort, and look for a new job. Make them fire you if it comes to it just to get severance out of them. If you quit they win.

No severance in Florida unfortunately.

I have no intention of quitting so that would be my likely plan of action. I honestly think the reason they are still offering me a position is because they do actually need me. It's baffling because when I say I am irreplaceable, it's true. Nobody else in the company can do what I can or it can't be easily trained (would take years)

Which is why I would rather take a shit position in the company over what they are offering. If I'm getting paid shit, then they are getting shit work out of me and not my expertise.

And the reason they blindsided me and gave me no time to think is probably because they knew I would immediately go running to my director friend.

Yeah, I think we are planning on doing a beach cottage for four nights instead, but we'll still keep trying to do it at some point. We loooooooooooooove waterparks, and having an indoor one means less stress on lotion for the kids, and higher chance the water won't be freezing (wtf Legoland).

I can imagine it will do extremely well here long term despite it being socal. It's still cold enough here in the winter that this is an excellent trip option for people. Plus, if people want to spend a week at a disney area, this allows for a few water days. I still wish Disney could find a way to create a waterpark. Blizzard Beach and Typoon Lagoon are awesome. Sadly, no space for them.

indoor waterparks suck, though. takes like 10 minutes and you've done everything. plus people think they can break rules and shit so if you try to duck into the hottub labeled ADULTS ONLY- NO CHILDREN UNDER 18 ALLOWED you'll find 7 year olds telling mommy they can't go in but mommy insisting it's fine.

my own FWP: my vacuum cleaner is broken, and i just moved in this fantastic tortoise enclosure... in the process of filling it with sand, i got dirt marks on my carpet, now they'll probably be there for weeks. ugh.

I've been sick since Saturday night and running a fever from 99-102 or so until today. Noticed yesterday while out my left side has been aching like hell. Finally go to doctor today and due to my severe coughing and vomiting thinks I pulled a muscle. Fucking embarrassing.

went to wis dells last year for my buddy's birthday, but before the outdoor parks had opened. the indoor park was meh so we spent most of our time doing non-waterpark things like go-karts... and of course Duck ride.

Went to dinner with my parents and they made a scene. Nothing too extreme but it was the typical "This isn't what I wanted and I'm old as fuck so I don't give a shit about decorum" style stuff. Dad was rude to the waitress. Then had the balls to order a dessert. I told him I hope he enjoys his boogers & cum ice cream. Mom paid and left a $6 tip...on three meals, drinks, and a dessert. So goddamn embarrassing.

More details ? Was it a legitimate complaint that was just unresolved or just being an ass ?( sounds like this from your post)

I would have snuck in a few extra bucks to the server if it was that bad. I've unfortunately been in that situation before with friends/family and it never goes well.

Dad was being an ass about the amount of coleslaw he got as a side. He was dropping shit and fuck a lot. And he is deaf in one ear, so he always yells. All the time. Waitress brought him more after I told him he was being an ass and apologized for him. Mom sent back her carrots because they had a cinnamon glaze and she doesn't like cinnamon, waitress offered another side as a replacement but mom got indignant and told her no and to leave the table. I was all set to split a dessert with them before all this happened but after their rudeness towards the staff I knew better. Afterwards when I found out how little my mom tipped it just pushed me over the edge from "eh this is awkward" into "this is fucking embarrassing". Talked to both of them about it and they don't feel they did anything wrong. Like I said, they are just both old (dad is 67 and mom is 64) and don't give a fuck.

That kind of shit fries my ass. Are they the same type of people to say that our generation are disrespectful and entitled? I've found that older people who say that shit are usually the first to flip their shit over something like an incorrect order at a restaurant.

How often do you see them ? Maybe they are going through some difficult things you aren't aware of ? Even as adults parents can tend to try and avoid difficult discussions or stressful situations.
