Pretty sure that just makes you an asshole lol.
Pretty sure that just makes you an asshole lol.
Been paying the utilities since my uncle has been in jail, everything up to date, etc.. everything that actually comes with a bill anyways.
Turns out my uncle owes pinellas county money and since the water goes through the county, even though the water is paid, they're planning on turning it off indefinitely tomorrow until my uncle's outstanding debt is paid.
Found 113 gallons worth of containers, cleaned them out the best I could, and filled them to the brim

Just don't leave them outside or you will get hella mosquitoes.
This is Florida, they will get inside, too. :/ Bugs are all over the fucking place here.
I fear for Florida when a Mosquito gets a bit of CS's omega blood. Going to have some ripped mosquito rampaging across the gulf if that happens.
I feel like I should take pity on CS and let him use my water sometimes, but my laundry costs alone are ridiculous. :/ Water rates on this side of the bay are atrocious, shit was much cheaper when I lived in Tampa.
I seriously fill up my water bottle at the water cooler at work before I leave every day, so I always have some free water when I get home lmao. I've become the biggest cheapskate ever.
Try to put something underneath them, if you can, like clean planks of wood or whatever you might have. It looks like they're on concrete, which can lead to chemicals being leeched in through the plastic. (This would happen even if you were using containers designed to hold water, so it's doubly important when you're using ones that aren't.) They should also be in a well-shaded area, as having them in the sunlight is a bad idea.
You could have sanitized the containers beforehand with a diluted bleach mixture, but it's too late for that. However, you cleaned them first, which is still great. If you can get more containers with screw lids, that would be better—you'd actually be able to drink the water a few months from now if you stored it that way.
Although I don't believe you plan to drink the water, such storage methods will ensure it's better quality for washing hands, food, and so on. Whatever you can't put in screw-lid containers would be good for your toilet.
Could you put the water bill in your name instead?
I went to take a poop, took my phone in the bathroom to check Facebook naturally, and Facebook mobile couldn't load before I finished pooping.![]()
I expected an entirely different and far more entertaining ending to that story.
By them. I have the account info that comes on the bills and I know the last 4 of his social, easy enough to be him to them over the phoneAlso, out of curiosity, how did you come across this information? Did you call and speak to them directly, or were you told this by someone else?
Yes, but he's still the home owner, so I'd just be a tenant, so they basically told me I'd have to take it up with him and he'd still have to pay it before they turned it back on

Drinking/cooking, lolAlthough I don't believe you plan to drink the water,
You should call back and say that you're the tenant of the property, and that the owner is currently incarcerated, but you're still living there. They're supposed to give tenants a forewarning before shutting their water off, no matter what sort of consequences the landlord is facing. If they say that talking to you is their notice, ask if you can have the water bill changed to your name and made your responsibility, specifically detaching it from the owner's dues.
I know you already said that you'd be "just a tenant," but your county isn't supposed to shut things off without giving proper notice to the person living there. Maybe you'll get someone sympathetic, or maybe not.
Then you should definitely get some containers with a screw top. What you have now won't be suitable for drinking for very long. That doesn't mean you'll need to throw it out, however.Drinking/cooking, lol

Alternatively, you may make it safe for consumption by using a significantly cheaper method: tiny amounts of bleach. (Be sure to measure it properly, or you'll make yourself very sick.)

Don't buy a big container of bleach if you're going that route, as bleach loses its effectiveness after about six months on the shelf.
I can understand why you wouldn't want to spend money on industrial-quality water bottles, so I would at least recommend getting bottles of spring water from the dollar store (if not a place that has them cheaper), drinking their contents, and then refilling and screwing them shut. It would be safer than what you have now.
Called more than once. Once as my uncle, once as a tenant. They basically said they won't turn it back on till what's owed "by the property" is paid. You should call back and say that you're the tenant of the property, and that the owner is currently incarcerated, but you're still living there.
