Does it matter?
Does it matter?
If it's a single bottle of beer I'm not very impressed.
If it's a bottle of wine, that's p neat.
If it's a bottle of liquor, I'm impressed.
If it's a bottle of bleach, I'm more impressed that he managed to type.
Win so far: I stumped Bloomberg Help
Fail: By stumping them, I am unable to finish the model I'm making.
Trump help would never be stumped.

Huh?
Just ran out to get lunch. Pull away from the curb and immediately know I have a flat. Pull over, get out everything I need, and start jacking the car up. It starts raining, but fuck, can't do anything now. Pull the tire off and start filling it. It's now POURING. Get it filled enough to get the screw out and the plug in, get it filled and back on, and finally hop in the car. Drive down the block and the sun comes out and the rain lets up.
Fuck you, today. Fuck you.
A lot of the people I work with deal with health insurance for the poor, as well as immigrants who can't speak a word of English. Some of the e-mails I get just make me want to bang my head on my desk, and I already know my grammar/spelling isn't the best, but I at least know what spell check is.
And don't get me started on our vendors. I got an e-mail from one vendor where I don't even think English was his third language.
Bernie Sanders rally in Oregon today, about 10 min from my office. I am staying the FUCK away from that part of town and working from home. Fuck this noise.
Save the Essay tests and exams for english then...you know, the course thats meant to teach you that life skill.
Requiring an essay for an assignment that doesnt need an essay, or requiring short answers when a short answer isnt needed is about as shitty as not giving full marks in math for "not showing your work". Fuck you, the answer is right. If they want to give brownie points to the stupid kids for "making effort", and so they can see where the mistake was made, sure, thats fine, but dont punish me for not having the wrong answer.
1-Make your multiple choice tests better
2-Most students dont remember fuck all anyways, they cram whatever they have to learn for the exam, then forget it.
Considering both Ksandra and I teach English I kind of assumed that was what we were talking about here in the first place. I've never had to write a paper for Chem but I did have to do some short answer stuff, on top of doing calculations and whatnot.
The largest skill of any person tech or science is not the ability to do science or tech well but rather the ability to communicate why what you are doing is important to a bunch of average joes.
That is why you get essays in chem, bio, engineering, etc. Nobody is doing any R&D without funding and no matter how awesome your brand new innovation might be, if you can't convince the accountants, it isn't getting funded.
If you don't understand a concept enough to explain it to someone who doesn't have a background in the area, you don't understand it well at all. I have zero sympathy because route memorization is the pretty much the shittiest skill you can develop.
Also lol at being mad at points off for not showing your work in math. A+. Would lol again.
i teach 100/200 level college english classes, and can tell you i get students that i assume have graduated high school who have no clue how to even write in paragraph form sometimes.
the problem is not helped by the fact that i teach college.
Sigh I am hesitant to explain because I thought it was a pretty good joke on my part but I guess not.
Conversation in the thread was flowing about the disdain for people who can't articulate coherent thoughts through text/e-mail. I posted something combining ye age old "I accidentally the entire thing" meme and the basic white bitch phrase "I literally can't even". Har har har...or so I thought.
Anyways, sorry to interrupt the current discussion on shitty testing methods for teenagers, carry on.
Except were not talking about Advanced Trigalgacalculusphysicsengineering math here that you'd be doing in your 5th year of physics at an elite university level where equations can span multiple pages...were talking about high school math.
but keep loling, A++
Perhaps I never caught on to the premise of needing essays for high school not-english courses, but thats probably because I'm not an idiot and know how to write essays, and quite possibly that one incident with that horrible teacher who graded 30 10 page essays in 30 minutes left a shitty taste in my mouth that still lingers 18 years later.
